It's a disheartening fucking situation we are in right now.

Don’t see anything close to a difference maker anywhere in this organization offensively.  Meidroth is being way too passive

The only thing in baseball making me smile is that the Yankees were just shut out for the third straight game!

This should smack against the short sample size fans when the young kids struggle and want to send them back down.   Like Judge should do some work in the minors.

We are despereate for a position player superstar. Someone that can just hit 280/350/500 with 30 HR and solid defense. Someone to give us a nice 5 win head start on replacement and more importantly reason to tune in every night.

Maybe Colson can be that guy, maybe his younger Montgomery can be, maybe even Vargas, but right now at best we have a few solid regulars and 7 or so guys position player wise with no future and no past that play too often.

Will we ever see one?  The youngsters are not that.

I'd love for some player they drafted and cruise thru the minors in 3 years.

He's not. Neither is Vargas. They need an aircraft carrier as AJ calls it.

Bro we'd freak out over a league average player tight now.

Ridiculous.  F-ing cricket swing drives in a run.  I've gotta put on some Napalm Death to vent.

That will get it done

Is Capra the pitcher more effective than Capra the hitter?

That's the existential question.

Well, not tonight.  He was 1-2 with an RBI (uncharacteristically).  He gave up a 2-run homer, not that it mattered.  Except maybe with the PTSD.

Literally no other team I watch does this bullshit. You can't fucking treat positions as interchangeable at the MLB level IN SEASON. You move a guy you have him train there all offseason and spring. You don't just tell Sosa hey you're a part time 1B now, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

dumb fucking manager and GM.

In fairness - if you are in contention, yes, when you aren’t contending I think you can do more of this to see what flexibility exists and how to stretch people or try to get them there over time cause in grand scheme those mistakes while they can cost you games - are acceptable given fact we are not contending for anything - as long as it fits within a clear plan and they are doing those things to teach amd develop.

But the question remains CAN the White Sox actually teach and develop?

Halfway to 100 losses now.

It also seems like having a AAA team in a hitters paradise like Charlotte doesn’t do anything to help prepare the hitters

They need to figure out the ideal places for Vargas (probably 3B), Meidroth (arguably 2B, then SS), Baldwin (2B or CF), Sosa (probably 2B because he doesn't have the offensive profile for first)...

Then you have the issue with Quero/Teel and whether or not Teel does have the hitting profile for 1B/DH.

If you're not getting much pop from Meidroth at SS, then you absolutely need to get power from 2B, IMO.  When you start looking at the NL and AL All-Star competition and how deep that position is across the league.

Just not sure that Sosa is THAT guy at second base, most posters at this point would probably argue against him being on the "next Sox playoff team."

They're still talking about Colson as if he's going to show up at some point this season and take SS away from Meidroth, but not sure that's going to be fair to either player, and then Montgomery's going to push Vargas off 3B to accommodate Colson in the middle of the MLB season (to be fair, he did player there SOME in the AFL last year)?????

Birmingham kills Sox hitters, Charlotte kills the pitchers and inflates hitting numbers...not sure how likely an affiliate change is to happen with the travel expenses saved by putting the three teams together in North Carolina.

Very disheartening.

But a lot of this is Getz own choices with the roster.  Capra, Rojas, Slater, Taylor, Noda should be nowhere near this team.  There is not a legitimate reason to have a single mediocre or worse veteran on this team, much less 6 of them (let’s not forget Benintendi, but he’s sort of forced).  They contribute nothing.

The Sox would get more benefit from any and all of Jelks, Fletcher, DeLoach, Lee, Elko, Baldwin and others from Charlotte playing instead of those veteran clowns.  If one of the Charlotte crew finally puts it all together, it’s a huge win for the Sox.

He's got some big trades he needs to make too.

And it's not just Getz.  Shirley too.   A lot of bluster from the Sox drafts, but so far it's Crochet 5 years ago (and he was really for the bullpen).

But that will cost JR an additional $4000 per day per roster spot...

Glad to see the Cardinal hit the HR off Capra. Too often when teams put in position players the guy avoids giving up a bomb.

BTW, Cards will take us lightly the rest of the series. You know what dat means? Bet the house on the boys from the south side. Maybe parlay the over with a White Sox win. Lineup today was lousy; skipper figures to use a better one rest of series.
