Count down to Ishbia thread

Of the team, lol?

We've only got another 2 1/2 seasons of this to go, lol.

Then we'll magically be competitive heading into 2028, somehow.

Don’t hold your breath.
Why do I say this, if JR is still running the show he will never spend the money for the last few pieces to make it a successful rebuild.
If Ishbia is running things there might be hope but what do we really know about him.

Well I was under the impression that once Ishbia took over, the payroll would immediately climb to top 3 in the league and sign and trade for everyone

Glad to see the Cardinal hit the HR off Capra. Too often when teams put in position players the guy avoids giving up a bomb.

BTW, Cards will take us lightly the rest of the series. You know what dat means? Bet the house on the boys from the south side. Maybe parlay the over with a White Sox win. Lineup today was lousy; skipper figures to use a better one rest of series.

If I had a house for everytime you said that....  Well I'd have Lawrence Kansas.

I went to the game last night and after the Cardinals scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning alot of the fans went to the concourse areas to buy food. It was $5.00 food night. The fans knew the game was over. By the 8th inning  most of the remaining fans left were the Cardinals fans. Last nights White Sox lineup has to be the weakest in MLB. The only person missing was Josh Rojas.  If the White Sox offered a trade package of Capra, Slater, Taylor Robert Jr, and Rojas to any MLB team you might get a bag of balls in return. I've always thought this seasons goal   was  to get as low of a payroll as possible. Next years payroll will be even lower. In the meantime as long as JR is running the show the team is going to keep losing 100 plus games every year. This losing on purpose is so wrong. I wish MLB would step in here and do something about this.

That would my wish too but it will never happen. This jerk has gone bat s%*# crazy in his old age and has no business owning a baseball club in a Major market, it’s a crime what he has done to the franchise.

Is he smart enough to purge stupid from this organization?

What we are seeing the handling of younger players is beyond WTF?

Brings back memories of the untouchable Scott Ruffcorn.  Bring him up to pitch against the Indians despite even veteran pitchers didn't like facing them.

lol what?  This brings memories of a guy who pitched 70 total Innings in his life to the tune of an 8.57 era and -2.5 WAR?  What does this failed prospect have to do with anything?  Lmao you are upset about what happened FOUR regimes ago to a guy who meant nothing, because he got lit up by one of the best offenses of the 90s?  Lmao

The manager should make out his lineup and then call in his coaches and show them the lineup. Last night they'd have laughed and changed it. The losing on purpose grows so old. Anybody in the commissioner's office could figure out the Sox want to lose and punish them accordingly. Frankly I think the franchise should be contracted. Bring an expansion team to town. Call 'em the Chicago Hangwoofems, make Hawk the first manager.

I don’t know if Ishbia will be any good, the the day he takes over can’t come soon enough. It’s ridiculous JR won’t give up control. Look at the record, you don’t know what you are doing.

JR  knows perfectly well what he's doing. Trying to be owner of the team with the lowest payroll. He doesn't care if the team loses 100 games every year which sure doesn't say too much for his character.

Then why have you consistently been the high man on predicting how many wins this team will have?

I'd imagine JRs everyday energy levels and cognitive abilities are similar to most people in their middle and late 80s. Even if he's in the 90th percentile range for his age group, and I've worked with some of these people in my line of work, they at best are capable of 3-4 hours of sustained output a day and need constant supervision as they will make cognitive mistakes or forget key things. It's just reality of being that age.

He was always cheap, but he wasn't always this bad at running a franchise. He was never great to be fair, maybe never even average, but he wasn't historically bad.

It's baseball's fault for not contracting these teams that have owners not having the money to compete. Shame on the commish for his silence re. the wrecking of a fine franchise.

I've always tried to be positive in life and in regards to the White Sox. Being a season ticket holder and watching this team this season I have unfortunately changed my mind. Sitting thru last nights game was brutal. I don't think things will get better for a long time. That one writer (Fegan) has said he doesn't think the team will be good until the year 2030.  The thing that bothers me is that  this losing doesn't bother JR. I  don't think I'm wrong with my assessment of this situation.

In addition, I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.  Recently they have brought up Elko and then have shipped him down to the minors. He's the only person in the organization  who has any power.  I think the only reason why the team is drawing  half way decent is because of the promotions. The giveaways (which i save, I'm a big time collector) and the $5 food nights are great. If there us anybody on this site who has something positive to say about the immediate future of the team, kindly tell me what it  is.

Nearly half the NBA’s franchises, a whopping 14, have changed hands since the 2011 collective bargaining agreement. That has given way to monumental television rights deals, and it has become more than trendy to own an NBA team.

It's become very smart business.

The average NBA franchise value is $4.4 billion, according to Forbes in November. The $10 billion number will only increase that, as well as the expansion that’s expected to kick off pretty soon.

They're still a cash cow.
