Is it right handed or left handed hitters that really struggle in Seattle. I heard something about how the batters eye affects one side of the plate more then the other. The Mariners offense is actually not very good at home. Much better on the road.

Seattle just oppresses offense. It's on the waterfront so it's frequently cool and damp, and in the PNW that can mean well into June and even throughout summer at various times. They've brought the fences in numerous times but the park still plays pitcher friendly. To your question I think it was the center right field power alley that was really a problem. That is the fence I believe they brought in like 25 feet over the last decade.

It is going away thankfully but his framing was awful in person. I honestly saw some better stuff from the LLWS this weekend that I caught from the gym treadmill. He has no subtlety with it. He jerks his glove into the zone.

it's funny you say this, because I was watching some games and I thought it was so goofy that these 12-year-olds are trying to (unsuccessfully) trick the umpires. Are their coaches teaching them this?

the only good thing imo about ABS is that 'framing' will go away.

Ya I wanted to say that I thought they said it affect LHH more, but wasn't sure.

lul, Bazardo is hanging all of his 'breaking' pitches, but his sinker breaks the opposite direction and is just nasty. I'd only throw that pitch. Brooks should've crushed those first 2 pitches, then gets out on an actual good pitch.

back to back, duh. I guess Sosa hit the fastball. time to unload on this dude

Lenny is no joke

Pregame Sosa looked extremely relaxed. Was hitting bombs into the bullpen in BP and then after that did a pretty involved warmup by himself. He then took a great walk against Kirby early when everybody else was struggling to ID his breaking stuff.

He's been taking walks too. That's like a really good heater or he's figured a lot out in the last 10 months or so.

He's coming into his own as a player. I think it's a real true talent jump. He went from like 1 WAR to maybe about 2.5 or even 3.5 this year. If you hit 280/300/450 and don't butcher it at 2B that's 3 WAR in today's run environment.

Would love if he could figure out 2nd base

maybe the coaching isn't good

They only start using MLB balls in AAA and Charlotte is an absolute bandbox. Im not sure why they send guys there if they are actual prospects.

Isn't there anything they can do about the park effects there? Seems like it really makes scouting any progress or otherwise hard.

Im not sure that its just Charlotte. It seems like a lot of those stadiums are small.

unreal how fucking terrible this staff is, the only pitchers worth a damn are veterans who we just trade away for prospects that Bannister and Katz won't do s%*# with

I think Katz has done a solid job turning chicken s%*# into chicken salad (at times) but it was pretty wild seeing Cannon at times doing a full behind the head windup and then other times barely scratching the back of his head with hit. Sure vary and time your delivery so guys don't get comfy but that wasn't that, it was just having zero confidence in your mechanics on a MLB mound.

He now has a FIP over 5.25 in his last 150 innings. He is what he is. Cannon fodder.  I wanted to believe, but nah.
