You mean when the lefties came up?

September 27: The Padres officially placed Laureano on the 10-day injured list today, per a club announcement.

What good defense playing RH power hitters were available on September 27th?????

The story of this game isn't going to be that Bryce Johnson would have come through in those situations.

One was a really good play by Swanson.

Starting to think a long Cubs' postseason run might actually put some pressure on Jerry Reinsdorf to spend.

But nah...

He would have been the third best hitter after Colson and Teel on the White Sox...

This game was all about not scoring runs 2 and 3 in the early going.

I'm making fun of Gavin Sheets here quit trying to harsh my buzz.

Robo umps

I’m shocked Tatis is letting us down

But nah...

Not a chance in hell

Cease will either get bombed or pitch a gem...odds against his former team, well, not going to bet it either way.

Machado faded down the stretch too.

Looking like the Orioles' exit last two post seasons.

Still think the Laureano injury was the key here...not much you can do about it at the last minute.

Jed gets a lot of criticism, but he did an incredible job putting together a good bullpen on the fly after a bad start.

Wouldn't be shocked if Estrada gave up 2-3 here...have to save Suarez but he rarely goes more than one inning anyway.

Estrada is the Griffin Jax of the NL.  Everyone talks about how great he is, but I feel he gives up runs whenever I watch.

I see that pitching is leading the way early in the playoffs

Sigh.

Without trading every good prospect they had like the Padres did

Padres just not nearly as good with RISP this year.

And their rotation is a complete mess after Pivetta...at least after M.King got hurt.

Preller should really be fired if they lose this series

It’s why I never understood the super pen approach

Still not buying M.Miller in the starting rotation ala Crochet after they lose Suarez to free agency...

You know you will be singing “Go Cubs Go” in an inning.  🤣😉

It made more sense with a healthy Musgrove...

Musgrove was hurt when they decided to trade for Miller

For making playoffs 4/6 years compared to Padres' previous franchise history....and Top 3 attendance???

Well it doesn't really matter.

Need to do a retooling...limited budget now and lower draft picks and can't buy out international classes anymore.

Maybe they shake things up and trade Machado....try to build around Merrill and Tatis.

The super pen approach was really started last year.

In addition to Laureano, Adam being out with the hamstring has really hurt because they had to move Estrada back one spot.

Can't win at Wrigley scoring just one run.

Have to start cheering for Milwaukee/Vaughn...

Keller another feather in Getz's cap lol.

Blow up the Padres.

At least they have had four playoff series victories since 2020...but this is just not their year.
