MLBTR Offseason Outlook on White Sox

Again...the organization pays people to do this analysis.  Most of us have very limited coverage of all players in both leagues.  I am advocating for Jerry to free up some resources so Getz and company can do their jobs.

And yet they don't feel they are close enough to spend.

Santos, Houser and Robert trades are all fine imo. Fedde/Kopech wasn't great, Cease was bad.

  • The National Equirer is more accurate than that guy.

You are a White Sox fan, so it is probably more like a -1 WAR 37 year old 2B who will play 1B poorly.

Who are they?  Jerry said that Getz was the fast track back to respectable baseball on the day he hired him.

Jerry said that the 2023 season was personally embarrassing for him so he hired Getz to bring the Sox back to respectability and winning without wasting a year.  Getz proceeded to lower payroll and have two losing seasons after that.  Are you going to believe anything Jerry says?

Indeed.  He’s a snake oil salesman.

From Top 10-12 to the #29 payroll.

"I didn't have to interview these people because I knew them all, and I knew that they were qualified, but what I didn't know was I had somebody inside who could start right away making things happen, and that's the reason why Chris was selected."

Reinsdorf is correct in the sense that if it probably wasn't worth interviewing the people he already knew, because they'd probably all be worse hires than Getz (he only name-dropped Branch Rickey, who died in 1965). A real process would have identified people Reinsdorf didn't know, but apparently there wasn't time."

The next Romy Gonzalez/Fajardo.

Looks like the Red Sox might be open to moving on from K.Campbell.

Another guy the Brewers kept on their 40-man instead of rostering Shane Smith for the 2025 Rule 5 draft.

We seem to love .653 ops hitting corner infielders.

The left handed version of Mead?

At least Mead has/had the minor league pedigree.

Bizarre how we can't manage to get an actual outfielder from MIL, a team with 6-7 of them now.

It's a minor league deal. He might see the 4th inning of a spring training game.

That turned into a job for Maton.

Would have to beat out Mead, though. Tough.

AAAA player, out all season. This is more of a courtesy than future substantial value for this team.
