Sosa in RF.

Yikes.

Bad enough on the infield.

Just not a dynamic, fast-twitch athlete.

Benintendi has to play LF passably if you want to have any hope of getting back at least 1/3rd of his contract in a dump at some point (looking less and less likely as teams just wait for him to be waived/released).

Why Sosa in RF? I'd put him in LF, and Baldwin in RF.

Santos, Houser and Robert trades are all fine imo. Fedde/Kopech wasn't great, Cease was bad.

  • The National Equirer is more accurate than that guy.

You are a White Sox fan, so it is probably more like a -1 WAR 37 year old 2B who will play 1B poorly.

They're not going to make Benintendi a full-time DH.

Sosa will give up just as many runs as he prevents once Robert is traded.

Will be 33 to start the season.  I think I’d rather claim Seymour.

Yuck!!!

Is the goal to have the oldest "young" team in baseball?

The only thing worse might be taking another collegiate 1B at 1-1 in the draft.

Fortunately, that doesn't seem likely for the first 3-4 picks at the moment.

Tough choice...Phillies vs. Sox

The life of a Sox fan — having to hear offseason news about which cheap veteran scrubs your team is interested in.

A 1 WAR 33 year old 1B is a target?

Seymour got a lot of catcalls around here a while back. Big power.

Seymour is a local kid, no?

South Suburban Harvey, IL. Maybe the trick is to fill the team with White Sox fans, so they start screaming about how they should all be DFAed before fans get a chance to?

I would say the trick is to find talented people, but maybe that is the problem?

I think he’s from Saint Johns.  Lots of us have Harvey listed as birthplace despite growing up in other suburbs :)

Yeah, that one hospital is in Harvey.

Insert here boilerplate WhiteSox2023 response about the Sox having the worst cumulatve record the last three years, so why wouldn't they also have the most DFA's?

Yes, for the Sox that is definitely the problem.  Talent costs money and the Sox won’t be spending much at all this offseason.  However, Boob Seymour is right up their alley.

A 27 year old 1B/DH who has yet to make much of an impact in the big leagues...

Surely the next Addison Barger in waiting.

40 on contact is a lot better than Elko and Wolkow, at least.

But that would probably push Meadiocre out of the picture.

I think Meadiocre gets more run next season.  He just turned 25 and Getz won’t want to admit that he acquired absolutely nothing of value for Houser so soon after the trade.  Duncan Davitt and Ben Peoples also look like mediocre pitching prospects in their mid-20’s.

Flexen, Carlos Carrasco...splurge on Jose Quintana OR Cody Ponce.

LoL.

"RHP Cody Ponce: Outside of the three NPB stars, no player coming from overseas is gaining steam quite like Ponce. Born in California, he played for the Pirates in 2020-21 and could now be poised for an MLB return as a much improved pitcher. Ponce spent three seasons in Japan where he had decent-not-great results before dominating the KBO last season with a 1.89 ERA and striking out 252 batters.

Multiple scouts described Ponce’s stuff as “electric — when he’s right."    theathletic.com
