Cannon, Burke, Thorpe, a veteran or two? Is Grant Taylor moving to the rotation? Is Schultz up by mid-season? They have more options than they did 2 years ago, but it's still lacking in higher end quality.

November 12, 2025Nov 12 I read on southside showdown an article suggesting the Sox sign 3 former pitchers. Lucas Giolito, Jose Quitana, and Chris Bassitt. I dont think Gioloito left on the best terms and Bassitt may not eat enough innings, but Quintana? Yeah. Any thoughts boys?

Probably yes. But a cheap deal for him with closing experience on a team that blows an astronomical amount of saves i think is worth exploring. Would be a nice story if he accumulated any worth. But as I said, i don't know that there's anything left there.

November 13, 2025Nov 13 Author White Sox GM Chris Getz on payroll discussions with ownership. "It's still fluid. We're going to be able to add some free agents and identify players that we feel like could help this club. We're going to be aggressive in the right places." — Kyle W (@K_Williamsmedia) November 12, 2025

But Giolito is not coming anywhere near the Sox. Jerry is never going to bring back the team's former MLBPA representative, and one who they squabbled with over Arbitration.

November 13, 2025Nov 13 Honestly what Getz said doesn't surprise me. I don't see how anybody could have expected anything different and if Levine is right for once, if they do move Robert the payroll could be embarrassingly low. But I'm sure JR isn't losing any sleep over that factor.

They also could extend Stowers and/or Ramirez, for example.

They'll lean on "rebuilding" and "development" and add a few C level free agents, I'm sure 1 or 2 will be tagged with the "veteran leadership" tag and it will be another similar season to last. And in some regards, based on where this organization is at, plus the upcoming CBA issues...I can understand that general philosophy to a degree. There isn't one free agent name that screams "this guy would be a perfect addition, they must do anything in their power to sign them" But, as a fan...we're entering the 4th season in a row where the there is virtually no path for the team to even play .500 ball. I'm tired of that, and want to see them make a real effort to improve. Signing a 31 year old Cedric Mullins and a 32 year old Ryan O'Hearn doesn't really accomplish that for me. But I know not to expect anything significant, they've given no indication of that.
November 13, 2025Nov 13 what's the biggest new contract everyone expects just for 2026? $5 million $7.5 million $10 million Conditional upon trading Robert first? would kick the tires on Imai, but he will be too expensive as well...will probably get $125-150 million-ish

We're heading into Year 4 and they may lose 100 games again, probably 90 if it's better. I think White Sox management is getting away with not putting all resources into turning these around much quicker in the city of Chicago. This is crazy. They want to be thought of as some small market team with little resources. They're happy to play the fans as fools and not commit to building a team that can win and compete in a winnable division I'm a Sox fan, but it's hard to be treated like an idiot.

Benintendi has to play LF passably if you want to have any hope of getting back at least 1/3rd of his contract in a dump at some point (looking less and less likely as teams just wait for him to be waived/released). I would just see if Sosa can play 1B to lessen his defensive deficiencies. Maybe he figures out how to take a walk every now and then eventually. I don’t care about Jerry’s money, but Ryan O’Hearn does dick for this team. Edited November 14, 2025Nov 14 by WhiteSox2023
