I think Fairbanks is trying to get legit closer money.  Regardless of what Fairbanks ends up signing for, it won’t be with the Sox.

Apparently Fairbanks wanted to pitch somewhere warm because of his Raynaud's syndrome. He would have struggled in April/May in Chicago if that's the case.

That makes sense. I worked with a guy who had Raynaud's. He worked in a commercial cooler (eventually left) and it was debilitating for him. Dude wore heated gloves and it still didn't help. I remember he would go to the restroom for 5 minutes just to run his hands under warm water.

So, the White Sox probably had him for 2/$10M based on the exciting culture they're building, but he had to turn them down due to his illness. That's cool.

Actually, up to $14.5 million for Fairbanks' 2026 if you include the Rays' buyout and $500,000 additionally in the likely event the Marlins are eliminated and trade him at the deadline.
