I’d definitely take that at first base on this team. They desperately need more power.Because this new software keeps showing me the first page I keep seeing this, Prime Joey Gallo was not an above average hitter at any point of his career. When he made contact he could make it go far but come on man, dude never made contact.

He was better than league average offensively in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021…so basically his prime outside of the COVID outlier season.
April 6Apr 6 Japanese fans on twitter are calling out the Japanese Murakami jersey. This post alone has 11k likes and 750k views. +1 to organizational blunders.Translated from JapaneseThe font is way too tacky lmaoooooooooTranslated from JapaneseTo the Chicago White Sox. This font is commonly known as the "Chinese font," and it truly has a very bad reputation among Japanese people and Japanese people living in the U.S. (about n=50 people), so please do something about it in the next batch. I kindly and earnestly ask for your assistance.Translated from JapaneseA wind design made by elementary school students in their first computer class

The default fonts used here for kanji just don't read as well to native Japanese fans (but of course, they sell to Americans who can't judge fonts in a language they don't read)

Like I said, the same complaints exist for most MLB attempts at kanji merch. MLB should have an interest in correcting it given their clear desire to expand global reach, but they have also just been poor overall at holding Fanatics to quality/consistency standards in any number of ways in recent years. These are about Imai's HOU City Connect:It's a recurring issue that's not in the hands of Sox staff.Or, you know, maybe it's just Getz personally cutting out all the characters poorly league-wide I guess.
April 6Apr 6 Keep in mind that knockoffs or fake products proliferate in China.Whereas Japan is incredibly strict and proactive about IP and product quality. It's a lot about perception. What it feels like to customers.

These twitter posts sound like some Meiji era propagandaNothing wrong with it, what's being said by Japanese fans is that the font being used (across MLB, not exclusive to the Sox) is not aesthetically pleasing to Japanese culture. It's a design flaw made by a designer at Fanatics that didn't do due diligence researching it. Anyone with the basic knowledge of Kanji, understands that the flow, balance, and elegance of the characters is just as important as the characters themselves. Think of it as Japanese calligraphy. The Munetaka kanji jersey's fail to capture the essence of that style. Look at a Japanese uniform if you want to see the visual difference being pointed out.

Maybe Arial vs Times New Roman. Don't think I've ever seen a jersey where the name had a serif font. I'm reading anti-Chinese sentiment more than anything tbh.

I'm reading anti-Chinese sentiment more than anything tbh.Maybe it is. But MLB wants to sell jerseys. If there's an anti-Chinese sentiment among Japanese consumers, MLB should learn that and avoid it. It's not the job of the consumer to get over themselves, change their feelings and just buy what's on the shelf. American baseball fans screamed when Fanatics changed the size of the name lettering on the backs of the jerseys. Were I in the market for a jersey that season, I might have held onto my $150 until they corrected that oversight.
