Was listening to a Jomboy podcast and they were talking about trying to get Mune for an interview when the Sox are in Anaheim next week.

"I've run out of things to say," White Sox manager Will Venable said. "Obviously, he continues to put himself in a really good spot to take good swings on good pitches. He's making great swing decisions, making a ton of contact, and when he hits it, he hits it really hard."

Venable added: "Even the singles he's hitting are hard. The damage is incredible, and it's impressive to watch."

Murakami is the 13th MLB rookie since at least 1900 to go deep in five straight, according to ESPN Research. The Japanese first baseman also tied the White Sox's franchise record, a mark shared by A.J. Pierzynski (2012), Paul Konerko (2011), Carlos Lee (2003), Frank Thomas (twice in 1994), Ron Kittle (1983) and Greg Luzinski (1983).

We arent far off from full blown Mune mania. Lunar madness, I tells ya

I actually kind of liked (kind of being the operative word) Schifrin's call of his home run last night.

"Show me the Muni..."

Agreed, I posted last night that it was probably his best call so far. And ironically it fits the situation perfectly going forward into next season. 🤣

JR most assuredly won't love it.

Especially if there's pressure exerted by the media and fanbase to build around him and Colson/Teel.

Of course there will be pressure. You may have lucked into a 26-year old star player with a huge market following that you didn’t have before for a low price for 2 years compared to the market for established star players. How many teams would be too cheap to extend the player and f*** all of that up? I guess we shall see what happens.

Maybe they can get creative and do something similar to Ohtani, offload the bulk of the contract to Ishbia years.

this had me cracking up. from the other night's game on a youtube that follows japanese players in mlb.

At that point, I’m sure Getz would have to share that plan with Ishbia and Ishbia would have to be aligned. We all know Jerry ain’t paying any of that contract heavily in the early years. 🤣

I guess the Yakult Swallows are the sad sack team of that league. Those fans are familiar with our plight.

Swallows and Sox fans have been forming a kind of beautiful kinship on socials since early in the season.

After the first few games some Chicago fans were apologizing for not being good enough to deserve him, and Swallows fans were basically like "No, we get it" lol

Don't know if it's something that would be possible with licensing and stuff, but some kind of event at the ballpark with Southpaw and the Swallows mascot would be fun

New Era had Japanese hats that were black and had the Japanese 'wording' for "Socks" on the face. I couldn't find them.

Regardless of their record, when your team name is the “Swallows” you lose either way.

I don't know which of the paper bag, TLR or Hawk emoji I should give. It's kind of a "Hey-ooo..." with a smidge of regret.

Actually, I just reassessed… if you are the fan and your favorite team is the Swallows, maybe all the fans win?

😭😭😭

what's crazy is Mune is getting at least triple media coverage than Yordan Alvarez who is probably the best player in baseball right now lol
