Bryant is 34 years old and is still owned $78 million over three years, all guaranteed years and money. He also has chronic lumbar degenerative disk disease. He’s not likely to ever be productive again, or even finish out his contract. If he even plays, it will likely be as a full-time DH. Meanwhile, Robert is only 28 years old, is owed either 1/$22 million or 2/$40 million, is relatively healthy (albeit injury-prone), and can play Gold Glove defense in CF. I'm not that deeply invested in my joke. I got nothing. I had to take a beat to not try to "win". I think fanbases are predisposed to hate their own players, but believe they're worth more than their team got for them, even though they're relieved to be out from under the contract or disappointment of that player. The same sentiment that we feel about Robert probably hits Mets' fans about Acuña's failed prospect. Phillies' fans would hate the return for Castellanos, while happy to be rid of him. I get your point regardless, but the Mets are loaded with infielders. Ronny Mauricio can essentially replace Acuna’s utility role. Mets fans that don’t like this trade are nuts. They have a Gold Glove center fielder with hitting potential for up to two years and didn’t have to pay $240 million for him. But still, if we were to trade Curtis Mead, we'd still hate a market driven return, because we'd still overvalue him, and then build in Adrian Houser's peak value. Acuña cost them Scherzer. He was the lone player coming back for Max.

He’s out of options and there may even be a slight possibility that he doesn’t make the opening day roster. I’m guessing he does but I still don’t think people would be devastated at losing Mead. Like @GreenSox always complains about, Getz should have dealt Houser for some younger lottery tickets. I just think with where both teams are, Robert is a great pickup for the Mets, so whatever fans are complaining are just upset they missed out on Tucker. Acuna isn’t bad for us either, but we just wish we received more. Edited 8 hours ago by WhiteSox2023

Let's wait until they have to trade or DFA Mead. I'm sure you'll be happy with the return or result.

Unless Curtis Mead goes ham, I expect a DFA, just like the line of post-hype reclamation projects over the last few years. 1

I don’t think anyone will be that upset considering they turned a midseason signing of a mediocre starter in Houser into Mead. Like I said before, people will just wish Getz had traded Houser for younger lottery pick prospects like @GreenSox complained about immediately after the trade, rather than a post-hype prospect that a better developmental organization in the Rays was willing to give up on. Start calling other teams asking to trade for a guy on the bubble just to head fake another team into protecting someone they didn't have to? I assume they only hate it because they missed out on bigger FA outfield targets and had to settle for a trade for Robert. Exactly.
GreenSox
The Getz trade acquisition that could really help is Pereira. He looks like a blueprint AAAA hitter – rakes in AAA but can’t do squat in the majors – but his major league sample size is still slight, so there is hope. The Sox gave up 2 major league pitchers for him, albeit back of the roster guys.
