No one as good as Chase though.  I’d be very hard pressed to move him right now.

Would be incredibly dumb to move him IMO. On a bad team, he doesn't look like anything special but he's the type of player that will look way better when surrounded by better players.

I heard some info and atleast the one from Boston wouldnt be big. No idea was DFA was referring to or if it was a different trade.

I wouldn't say the trade is inconsequental however.

Share them details brother!

I got pretty much the same info as Jimmy but the article he pointed to had the right name just not the pitcher you guys were hoping it was for.

Hicks or Sandoval would be gross. Neither of them have any upside at all.

I'd rather trade for former Rule 5 Draft pick Shane Drohan than those 2.

Edit: it makes me think Sosa would not be involved though

It’s going to be Hicks. He has a the Bannister connection through SF. They obviously must see him as a buy low candidate, and I almost wonder if you could get the Red Sox to part with a prospect for taking him off their hands. I’m sure they’d like out of that deal, and his AVV matches up with the savings the Sox have left.

If we took on full salary of the remaining 2 years, I would hope something else came over. Knowing Jerry, we'll send out the interesting young piece in favor of the Red Sox eating money.

Boston better be eating a lot of the contract or sending a prospect with him because he was awful last year and still has 2/25 left on his contract.

Funny enough, I’m pretty sure the Sox had Drohan at one point but gave him back to Boston.

Bannister was with the Sox when Hicks was in San Fran. Hicks was a St Louis guy.

Hicks has a huge arm, but at 12 million and his production last year, he's a negative asset. He's also just getting old. I still don't hate Hicks, and it's hard to believe that arm can't find some usefulness in baseball. I thought he'd pan out as a starter but the command just keeps getting away from him.

I can't believe he's *only* 29

If BOS eats a majority of the contract, you won't get much back. That's probably where the real value in trading for him comes from - if Getz and Banny like/want him, and they are willing to absorb the majority of that deal + netting something valuable for the long-term future, then I can see why it's interesting.

You are correct, I thought the Giants signed him in '23.

I don’t know man, unless Boston is willing to include a really good prospect for the Sox to take Hicks, I’d rather just sign one of the free agents.

I have no thoughts on Hicks at this time, but I wouldn’t call a call who will be 29 on Opening Day as “getting old”.

He's either younger than his years because his career IP's are low because of all the injuries, or he's old for his age because of all the injuries. He's had an arm injury (Elbow or Shoulder injuries) land him on the IL every year since 2019 but for 2023.
