I wouldn’t necessarily trust Brooks either if it was his decision to reduce Faust’s role.  Perhaps @Lip Man 1 talked to Nancy as well?  I would be curious if she said the same thing, but even then it could be a matter of her not wanting to out her former employer and ruin her relationship with the team.

I will be honest, it might have gotten him in the door at the beginning, but it is no where near why he is one of the best in the business.  I can't think of another person in sportscasting who has th

Another hot take. Benetti is fine, but he wouldn't be as revered and acclaimed if he didn't have a disability.

I doubt they are.  They dumped the guy getting multiple high profile national gigs for a guy best known for SlamBall.  🤣

Let's just say that very, very good sources have told me the relationship between the two was strained and that was part of the reason for Nancy's request. And to answer the question, I know Nancy and have spoken with her many times on this matter.

She has always been tactful when she addresses the issue but it is clear that there were differences.

Unfortunately, Jerry is totally incapable of this kind of self-reflection.  The only times he takes notes is when he can tell everyone "I told you so".

So, he's run off Caray, Benetti, Fisk, Thomas......but on the bright side he brought back Tony LaRussa!

Boom.  Thanks for the inside info.

Ty, wild how he spun it in his interview then.

Right?  What did people expect Brooks to say in an interview - "yeah, we tried to give Nancy a hint that it was time for her to go"?

I don't want to get this thread totally sidetracked about the Nancy Faust situation since there's a lot more speculation involved there, but it's totally reflective of how this organization has driven away talented individuals who aren't total loyalists for 4+ decades now.

This shitshow isn't going to end for us until there is a change in ownership.

Also from what I was told, the driving force behind getting Nancy to return for a limited number of games the past few years both in the spring and in the regular season was actually Jeff Szynal the Sox longtime scoreboard coordinator and Hall of Fame curator and historian, not Brooks.

I liked it better when Brooks came out once a year to pump up the new stuff at the park, and he would just disappear for the rest of the season.  Now I know he is kind of a dick to work with and has driven off talent for petty reasons like he has an endless supply.  Don’t want to know that part

He sounds like a total boot licker to both Jerry and Getz.

Probably more like it.  I just remember Getz kept praising Brooks for selling Jerry on Murakami, so it may be a mutual thing between Brooks and Getz.

Meanwhile, Steve Stone takes entire series off and avoids west coast trips altogether.

And Adam Amin is getting more and more time as a multi-sport national announcer.

Jerry could have had two young, big name announcers in-house and fumbled it.

I'm sure there's a slight discrepancy in salaries.

Meanwhile, Sox only invest in the likes of Stone, Boyer and TLR.

"The loyalists."

It's also not going to Getz...or the newer managers like Grifol and Venable.

Not sure if this one is true as she has played spring training several of the past years and did a bunch of Sunday home games either last year or the year prior

If you ever see her ask her about it. She'll speak her mind.

I look forward to the day when Ishbia finally takes control of this franchise.  My hope is that a massive house cleaning of the organization quickly follows that day.

well i dont see how a man in a wheelchair would be useful for that. the house cleaning part. because they're in a wheelchair. oh yeah i should figure out a way to let you all know i'm disabled before i say something that sounds like someone who was being rude would say.

also the top areas of rat field are really complicated to get to for anyone little alone someone in a wheel chair.

Jason Benetti to replace Brian Anderson during NCAA Tourn...

Jason Benetti will reportedly replace an ill Brian Anderson during the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

I liked Hawk and his inimitable home run call will will live on forever. Benetti was at times, too full of himself making a point of demonstrating his mastery of often arcane and uninteresting pablum. His toy shelf and Sox math got old, and yes, no need to eat during a broadcast. I didn't hate that but I just found it strange. Sorry, Jason was a bit nerdy for my taste. Of course he is a pro's pro technically, no question about that as evidenced by his national gigs. Part of me wishes he stayed here, but never forget, for Jason, it was all about the money, his time, and his independence, and who could blame him for that ?

I get that some fans are intolerant of Schriff. To whatever extent his background or his personality either works for you or it doesn't. No need to hate on the guy though. He loves his job and I, for one, think that is an extremity valuable asset, in any profession. So is an open mind and the willingness to learn.

My personal preference to succeed Hawk would have been a former player like Dan Plesac with a color announcer like Kittle or AJ. I just like inside baseball stories from former players, especially guys who have a great sense of humor to fill all the empty air time during a game from their own experiences. Jason and Steve were so professional that the broadcasts became boring. They didn't make me laugh much. In contrast imagine Plesac with AJ or Kitty. They would have fans busting a gut with laughter, win or lose.
