Electric for PR

Wild to have two walkoff HRs in a day after none in all previous WBC games

A's really have a lot of young talent...setting up well for Vegas move time

DR/Venezuela pool definitely the toughest one...Nicaragua has played really well too

so far so good without Lindor/Correa

but next round will be much harder...obviously

Taiwan tied 1-1 going to 6th against Korea

Taowanese pitcher had a nasty blood blister

tough turnaround from last night to 12 pm the following day

could be 2-2 tie with Korea Taipei Australia in CT holds on

tiebreaker is RS-RA differential?

Do Young Kim upper deck homer

three homers this week including npb exhibitions

3-2 korea

"Should there be a tie within pool play, head-to-head record is the first tiebreaker to decide which team advances to the quarterfinals. From there, things get a bit more complicated, with the "lowest quotient of runs allowed divided by the number of defensive outs recorded in games between the teams that are tied" coming into play, per ESPN."

Would be Korea for sure...unless Team Australia/Mead does something crazy against Japan/Korea

Dane Dunning quickly warming for Korea...

Stuart Fairchild goes yard

4-3 CT  bottom 8

tied again 4-4  two out double by surprisingly potent middle infielder Do Young Kim

two sac bunts consecutively

first reached  throw to third late

then safety squeeze executed

5-4 CT in extras

quintessential Asian style game filled with bunting/sacrifices at end

Australia is actually in a pretty good spot with their low scoring victory in hand.

Yoshida has been impressive

more power than he's consistently demonstrated in Boston

(please trade for Benintendi and $5-10 million to offset salaries)

2-1 Japan to the 8th

pretty sure Japan doesn't want to play the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals...haha

Taneichi RP very impressive...

Murakami another walk

lots of jerseys and fans there...but Ohtani Yamamoto S.Suzuki then Mune and Sasaki seems to be the order of popularity right now

Shuto steals 2B as PR...Maki guides a groundball to rh side to advance runner to third

https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/world-baseball-classic-homers-from-shohei-ohtani-seiya-suzuki-help-japan-get-past-korea-8-6-134619307.html

Sato run scoring 2B to oppo lf corner...love that guy, only 26 too

Australia falling apart here at end

running out of quality pitchers

4-1 Japan

two solo AUST homers off closer Ota make it more interesting

4-3 Australia loses but has been one of the big stories of the tourney

now get their face off with Korea in Game 4 for Australia

Japan/Czechia is last for Samurai  will basically be an exhibition game

Why isnt Teel on the Italy roster today

Don't want to play catcher two consecutive and not a DH apparently...second catcher having good game and Pasquantino/Caglione/Canzone all fighting for 1B DH time.

Italy/Mexico sets up as a decider for this pool to advance.

Every winning team has a guy like Ant. Every winning team has a guy like Meidroth too.

The best part is there is room for both of them.  In the near-term, one will be the 2B and the other our primary backup infielder.  Maybe that changes when Roch, Bonemer, and others come up, but even then both Chase & Sam can be key role players off the bench.  The Dodgers always have a couple depth pieces like them.
