March 9Mar 9 "South Korea-Japan WBC Clash Achieves 16.5% Combined Viewership, MBC Dominates for Second Consecutive Game"...that's for Korea The Japanese tv ratings are going to be insane when announced. Sat prime time vs. 5-8 a.m starts for the World Series last year. Australia as well, for last night as well as this Monday night vs. Korea.
March 9Mar 9 Canada knocked off by Panama in an early surprise... Cuba Canada Panama fighting there Then you've got US Mexico Italy And Australia Korea Chinese Taipei Very competitive except the not so surprising DR Venezuela grouping Expected better fight from NED, but theis pitching is light
March 9Mar 9 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Do-yeong 3B very young though Three best mlb prospects in Tokyo Teruaki Sato GG/MVP 3B/OF 26 S.Korean RF Ahn, compared to Trout in terms of body shape
March 9Mar 9 3-0 Korea over Australia and threatening for more 4-0 now through three Korean at-bats have to win by at least 5 runs and can't give up more than 2....or Taipei would end up going to next round Bazzana 2/15 one homer but hasn't looked good since very susceptible to off speed stuff 6-1 going to 7th if score holds up Korea advances 1B/DH Go Byeong Moon two homers 11 rbis sets record for pool play over Arozarena Dunning just pitcher out of 1st 2nd no outs gidp K gave up key 2 run homer to Stuart Fairchild late to put Chinese Taipei up in last game Edited March 9Mar 9 by caulfield12
March 9Mar 9 Bazzana might have come through with "GW hit" even down 6-2 Korea would have to score at least one run in the top of the ninth now Korea up 6-2 has to score one or more runs can't give up another bottom of 9 Edited March 9Mar 9 by caulfield12
March 9Mar 9 now it appears the formula they've been showing all game was slightly off and 6-2 still advances for Korea runner advanced to third on weidest error SS tried to stop his throw and dumped it right into the ground and runner eventually scored on a sac fly 7-2 now going to be a nervous ninth if Australia needs just 1 or two runs but then they score too many and Chinese Taipei could go weird tiebreaker Edited March 9Mar 9 by caulfield12

After their first two games...coming out of the tourney like this was still a moral victory. Feels like they were just very flat against Australia, and Korea similarly played poorly against CT after almost knocking off Japan at home.

March 9Mar 9 Author Apparently, everybody advises Skubal to stay healthy and get paid. He hates the decision he made. Tarik Skubal hates WBC choice he made to depart Team USA Quote When asked if he was at peace with the decision, he shook his head. “No," he said, “I’m still not. The only way I’ll be at peace with it is in Miami after we win the whole [expletive] thing. It’s a tough decision, you know. It’s hard. It’s really hard. I’ve been trying to make it work. Quote “I think the resounding message from all of the guys was, 'Make sure to take care of yourself and your family,'" Skubal said. "We support you no matter what happens.’ I appreciate that because these are the guys you want to go to war with. There's probably a better metaphor to use, considering the current times.

"Smart move. He already missed most of 2021 with an elbow issue. (Not TJ surgery). He would be crazy to chance it, and miss the largest payday of, most likely, any pitcher has ever had. Even though the odds are low something would happen." And a first TJS wouldn't kill his value in FA like a second...maybe chop off $100-150 million. Feels like a Boras Corp decision...not in the best interest of the sport, but prioritizing the Tigers and his family. It's another version of D.Peterson at KU. Edited March 10Mar 10 by caulfield12
March 10Mar 10 Witt alone was the reason KC made the post season... Same thing they're hoping for with Griffin in Pitt and soon Cholowsky in Chicago. The key difference is Witt's game speed and arm strength, though. Italy/Mexico should be fun... 5-3 getting interesting in Houston 3 consecutive wins vs Team USA Cubs' Boyd getting lit up...J.Duran increasing his trade value Edited March 10Mar 10 by caulfield12
