They gave up 14 runs to the Rockies

Really hard to repeat in that division.

Already injury bug and loss of Bichette underrated.

Used to do this with just the lefty specialists. Now they're going after Toronto's RH hitters like Guerrero Okamoto etc.

  • Don't understand why the guy who lead the team in homers and RBIs last year doesn't play ...

Now you're getting out in front of your sister.

Bullpen and defense need to be tightened up a lot.

One out from 1-6 and two blown saves

Did they change the standings to W-L-(1 out from losing)? Otherwise, it means the same as a 12-1 clubbing.

Appropriate the Canadian walks off the Blue Jays. Good for Peters.

Going to guess losing game 7 of the World Series hurt a little more.

Thus the joke. I swear game 7 is on MLB Network a few times a week. Still can’t believe it

That G7 lose from behind game will stick with them for decades.

Two losses to Colorado already.

Kay Lauer and then spot starter.

Sox in decent position for the sweep.

Missing Ponce Yesavage Berrios Bieber.

Maybe they call up Yariel Rodriguez, the Sock that never was.

He got fuckin toasted in spring.

Good for Peters!

It's been a long time since a guy named Peters did good things for the Sox and Gary Peters was a pretty good hitting picher.

Good Manitoba kid taking down Toronto.

Nice win. Looks like Leasure is back to his old tricks. Will over manages way to much. I thought Hill was crazy bunting but it got it done. Nice job by Reese getting behind the catcher telling hill to slide right. Vargas need to put some zip on that ball, that's not on Murakami. If he doesn't stretch the ball is thrown away

Hill is no Pablo Ozuna but it'll do.

Undefeated at home!!!

Always nice to win the home opener.

First game this year the Sox won when trailing in the 7th inning or later.

Bullpen and fielding are still works in progress.

I’m just so tired of acquiring guys and then trying them in spots they’re not proficient at. It basically has never worked.

Um you do realize that the throw was wide and pulled him off the base. He couldve just come off the base to field it and the run scores anyway. he did what any 1st baseman does in that situation, he tried to stretch enough to keep his foot on the bag but he couldnt .Vargas will probably be saying it's his fault after the game.

Edgar's left*-handed swing looks like it's coming around too. All four at bats were hard hit. Now if he could only lift it off the ground...

I think it's possible that a better stretch could have converted it but the throw was definitely as wide as it could be and still have any chance at all. The right play for Mune may have been to just come off the bag and try to tag the runner as he came by. It was definitely not the same kind of play as the one a few games ago even if the end result of Mune coming off the base was the same. I don't know if this is coaching or not but I felt Vargas was aligned too deeply there and it made the throw harder than it needed to be.

It wasn't a good throw but we need to always crucify a new player

He was used as a pinch hitter!

Water under the bridge...

Wonder if we see him this weekend, TOR had some TBA's coming into the series.

Also...Corbin signed before Gio?

Vargas had time to make a good throw. He has throwing issues. If that ball was chest high and on target there is no problem.

how it feels to lose to the white sox:

Boston put out some pretty damning stuff about his arm.

Theres also the reports out there that Gio was part of a coup that failed in the MLBPA. Don't have any idea if he'd be welcome by the players or management. Hard to know who's feathers were ruffled, if any were. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/12/mlbpa-subcommittee-vote-new-members-paul-skenes-tarik-skubal.html

They had beautiful weather for the opener and a walk off win to top it off.

The right play is if it dont think you have to come off the bag you don't especially on a low throw. Youre liable to have the runner fly right by you or break your hand, wrist or arm as it reaches among the legs flying by.

I just dont see any of it being Munes fault (or even partially his fault for thinking he could have salvaged that throw). Make a good throw and the inning's over.

I agree. Vargas has to put more juice on the throw. Like you said mune actually somewhat saved the play

Cubs lose .DeLauter destroyed them.

He's been assigned to AA.
