This must the lurking thought police ss2k5 keeps warning us about. How dare somebody compare one potential HR title chase to another? Boiling 3 players on the same team having a historic collection of HR streaks down to "a win or two" is next level minimalization. Something amazing is happening on the White Sox. You and RubRub see yourselves as gatekeepers of happiness.

Being as dour as y'all are, and trying to mock people who are happy after a win is the true silliness. You make more sense when discussing poo or rub-rubbing one out.

I looked through your partner in crime’s posts on this site and couldn’t find where he made the comparison of Murakami and Montgomery to Mantle and Maris due to or citing a HR streak, but perhaps you can find it?

FYI — All I could find was a post Cali made because their combined first name initials would both be M&M. He first made the comparison back on April 4th, in a game they both hit homeruns but prior to this current Murakami and Montgomery multi-game HR streak that you assumed he was making the comparison for. There was no HR streak by the two Sox players at the time so your assumption was apparently incorrect.

We're on pace for 63 wins coming off the worst season in modern MLB history and a subsequent 100+ loss season. Spare me the dumb troll. In fact spare this forum.

  • 9-14 = .391 win% which projects out to 63 wins. Nope, this is pretty much in their lane. But I guess as bad as things have been, the victory lap ceiling gets easier and easier to take.

  • "Hey buddy, your favorite team finally isn't embarrassing themselves anymore for the last few games. I bet you feel really stupid huh" - yeah, you really got me there lol

Be happy about whatever you want, but when it turns into burning down every thread because certain people aren't shooting off fireworks in the streets, then yes, you will be rightfully mocked. Though i guess this thread was always meant to be a dumpster fire, so there is that.

Yes, it was absolutely ridiculous to compare M&M to two players with a combined ~150 career bWAR, with one of those players being a Hall of Famer, especially considering M&M haven’t even played a full season of MLB baseball.

Good lord…

Yea you're right. Colson and Murakami are gonna be like 200 combined bWAR easily.

"That's ambitious but as I said in Multiple posts I thought there could be a chance that Murakami & Montgomery could be the White Sox modern version of Mantle & Maris."

That doesn't really qualify as a "comparison" to me. Like saying you and some lady dancing are doing your own "Fred and Ginger" routine. See how there's no comparison there? But you and RubRub then started weeping openly that anybody would mention Mickey Mantle on a White Sox board. No comparison, just referring to two teammates who could possibly be competing for a HR title as a version of Mantle and Maris. You know, the way our language works.

I'll let you have the last word on this as this subject of whining about somebody calling a potential HR race between teammates a mantle & maris version is getting way inane.

I always love the gatekeeping of which players can and cannot be compared. It's a message board, for heaven's sake. Two teammates in a potential HR chase is evocative of the most famous one.

Hey cut it out! You aren't being miserable enough! This team is bad, everybody will bust, and we'll never win another championship.

The odds are very good they'll never win another championship that I'll be alive to see it.

Can share in this belief at almost 67.

Well Indiana FB and Iowa BB...anything is possible I suppose.

You've been telling us all along we'd never see one, and you were wrong. I think you'll be wrong again.

One WS every 20 years ain’t the greatest of odds. Unfortunately, as dark as Lip’s post is, the odds are probably in his favor. Even moreso when factoring in the odds of a WS winner over the entire life of the franchise. 3 WS winners in 125 years? Disturbing as it is, Lip has the odds on his side.

Led directly to the movie and John Belushi being able to afford all the nose candy in the world that took him out. Sad story of success and a quick ending to it. Rinse and repeat with Chris Farley and Tommy Boy.

I'm a swarthy Polak. My whole life, people have told me I looked like John Belushi. I was a Realtor. I went on a listing appointment for a Lebanese family in Albany Park. As I was going over the contract with the family who owned the building, the grandma (who didn't speak English) was making a ruckus. I asked if there was an issue. A daughter laughed, dismissed it and said, "My grandmother is just saying that she thinks you look like John Belushi."

However, it was devastating when he died. I made my sporting goods store I worked at turn on Steve Dahl on WLUP when he died. That's all I wanted to listen to. Mike Royko wrote something profound when he died. "I learned a long time ago that life isn’t always fair. But it shouldn’t cheat that much."
