Game Thread: 4/23 vs Arizona (GM3)

Why are you comparing the numbers 1.5 and 20? I didn't know that was allowed.

I think Caulfield was doing a concern troll bit after Seranthony served up a save situation as he is wont to.

Well, quite honestly, Seranthony still hasn’t been worth $18.5 million and an extra year of earning that money over Seward at chump change for a single year, so I’m not sure Caulfield is actually wrong yet. Regardless, it’s all about what kind of return the Sox can get for Seranthony since it would be a surprise to see him going for any saves in a playoff game within the next two seasons.

Okay everybody, let's take our victory lap on the track watered with hater tears. Wasn't somebody needling us that we could have signed the much better Sewald, but settled for Seranthony? Stand up! Make yourself known! Well, that 122 losses some were rage-predicting after that opening series against Milwaukee looks more and more remote.

And this is why Soxtalk was mored productive before your "VPN got fixed".

How do we measure " mored (sic) productive" on a message board ? More Toxic maybe ?But should we count game threads as Toxic during losses when SP are left in to die while 3 hitters are in consecutive game HR streaks as reflective of the general toxicity because of JR deciding not to spend any money and hanging his GM out to dry ? It wasn't me who called yesterday's gamethread a shitshow by the way. I just saw it after not entering it until the game was over.

Maybe you're going by post count as Soxtalk recovers from the still not fixed all the way upgrades. I guess that would make you the most productive . But I'm not sure that wasn't just a drunk post and you have no idea what you just said . Maybe another rehab is needed ? Too many drinking games can be hazardous to your health.

OK Boomer.

How about this? The weather has warmed here in Chicago and may the Home Run barrage continue. Two series wins on this homestand seem possible. I feels good to actually be considering this as possible intead of just hoping.

Guess the building culture thing is working. These guys seem to genuinely like each other. Add in Munes comments which I will paraphrase as " I love these guys" !!

Imagine someone’s flex/taunt to other posters on this board being that their favorite team isn’t going to top their historic number of losses from 2024. 🤣

I consider it as possible every series. Not sure how you separate that from hope though .When you become good you still hope for more but only one team gets the trophy every year . That means fans of 29 other teams have some kind of heartbreak. It's never as bad as it seems . Wait til next year has been as much a part of baseball as one Champion every year.

You don't have to imagine it. The people who proudly announced the Sox were going to break loss records after the first series were insanely wrong. That was the flex.

I never thought they would tie or break their loss record. I thought some people were saying that 100+ losses was still a possibility, which it is.

This didn’t age well.

I love reading the game threads after the games are over. Lots of hot takes.

Not taking shots, either. That’s kind of the point of the game threads. That’s why we’re fans.

The definition of hope. It's Sox related. Plus, that's the #2 Sox fan in the world.

I'm thinking no.

You are thinking “no” that many posters thought they could break their loss record from 2024 or “no” that they can’t possibly lose 100+ games this year?

Just don’t scroll down to the comments. 🤣

Watching the CHSN replay of the game:

1) I'm kinda done with McGuire. I understand his existence. Maybe even keep him and send Q down when Teel's back. But I'm done.
2) Shriff should get his balls tazed every time he asks Stone if he lets a player swing on 3-0.
3) I have a soft spot for Beni, as an old guy. Not the ball player; his dad. I hope Tony Beni is taking care of the old man. Setting him up to buy regular Powerball tix.
4) Davis Martin is a nice late rounder. Maybe he sticks round for the duration of the team's control.
5) Soroka was a nice gamble when it was. Maybe the scouts who were still in the Sox' employ from 2023 didn't actually scout him, and Getz had to go off of word of mouth. But it was an okay gamble, and they still have Riley Gowens. And Braden Shuemake is captain of the Astros, now.
6) I like this d-backs team. Perdomo is a monster. Vargas better sign his endorsement deals now. It just sneaks up on you when you can't remember where you put your watch, or what the word for a deal you sign with a company to promote their product is called.
7) Pereira works. There's a scouting thing some teams do. If you're scouting a black player, don't compare him to another black player. I am guilty of seeing Avasail Garcia's ceiling with Pereira.
8) I understand the argument that Grant Taylor's the best arm on the team and should be used in high leverage. I don't think he does well in high leverage yet. He's a bit much with a clean inning. Coming to clean up a mess, not so much.
9) 7th inning, that was actually a nice play by Antonacci on that double. He pulled up well to plat the carom, saved a run.
10) Got no problem with Peters or Hill as backups.

You may have achieved a monopoly of posts here, but that doesn't make your opinion any more valuable than others, regardless of age. I know a lot of self-absorbed, overconfident, people of all ages, including a lot of blowhards.

1) Agree with Q going down. Unfortunately for KLee, he didn’t prove his case so The Master Baiter probably retains his backup job.

2) Agreed. I have been calling this out every time I hear Schriffen say it. I think he is trolling us all at this point because he should’ve figured out the answer to his own question by now, after all the times Stone has basically laughed at him when he asks it.

3) No soft spot here, regardless of what Benintendi does. A true soft spot would be DFA’ing him, paying out the rest of his contracts, and letting him try to latch on with a contending team to try to win something. Free up his spot for a younger player.

4) His value should be sky high and he’s not a free agent until 2031. Unless you are getting an amazing offer for him, he probably isn’t worth trading at this point.

5) Inconsequential.

6) Fuggem.

7) I thought Pereira was Venezuelan? Is he half-black as well?

8) Taylor looks like a future closer in any case.

9) Agreed. Was going to post this in the game thread.

10) They are still just guys. Would still like to see Kelenic get hot and see what he could do, but maybe his time is over.

I swear some of you are new to the interwebs, having legitimate meltdowns for absolutely no good reason. Breathe people. If you have to invoke Nazis or the like in a conversation about a baseball opinion, you probably need a new hobby. It's not that serious. Save that energy for something that actually needs it.
