I have no dog in the fight, but I think every trade period is different. A couple teams hold onto the guys everybody was banking on being available, so then the next tier becomes a bit more valuable. That being said, I really think they should hold onto Martin. Even with as much pitching we have in the pipeline, a bird in the hand....I don’t consider those guys to be “elite young pitching” right now. Schultz prior to his callup would fit that description to me. I think the return for Martin would/could be good, but not that good. Maybe @GreenSox’s expectations for “elite young pitching” is different and those guys would fit the bill. Edited Tuesday at 11:51 PM1 day by WhiteSox2023

No, nothing short of Chris Sale, Garret Crochet - somebody like that - would bring back "elite" prospects. A Davis Martin trade would mean cancelling a couple of family vacations for scouts, coaches and stats guys to dig down and find some unpolished gems in the other team's system. Fedde was a 4-WAR pitcher, and most teams were like, "uh, you know? We're fine with our own farm dudes."

Davis is, what, a high 3/low 2 with 3+ years of control? I would say 2 prospects who project to be 2s is "fair".Then we come to Bryan Hudson....I do think the system is pretty significantly short on pitching. So I'd look for opportunities. Thorpe I think also is still a very clear major league starter in my mind (I'm higher on him then most here - not saying he's a #1 or #2 - but I think he has a long career in the 4/5 mold).

Sandlin might be the next man up from a SP standpoint.

Hagen Smith is just being stretched out, and he'll be up later this season. Sandlin's going to get a shot this year. Oppor has run into some kind of problem throwing strikes. Gabe Davis appears to be a dude that the prospect guys are talking about.

2 hours ago2 hr Sox have poor luck in the DR. Carlos Sanchez was among the best, I believe. Sosa, too.

2 hours ago2 hr The wild thing is for all of the grief the White Sox got for actually NOT drafting an employees kid for once, they were actually right on Thomas.
