Five Sox prospects in the updated MLB Pipeline Top 100

Featured Replies

Caleb Bonemer (INF) – 15

Braden Montgomery (OF) – 24

Noah Schultz (LHP) – 27

Hagen Smith (LHP) – 50

Billy Carlson (SS) – 53

Not too shabby. I thought Bonemer would be crack the top 10 in this ranking. Didn't know Schultz is still considered a "prospect" though.

Not enough service time yet.

I think Bonemer is more of a 30ish prospect, Billy Carlson 70ish, I think Braden Montgomery should be in the teens though

so pitchers accumulate service time by the amount of innings pitched, not the number of days on a roster?

I think so...some services apply the rookie status of 50 IP and 130 at bats/pa's, etc.

Schultz will be removed soon, for example.

Then it will be back down to four on that list, but draft day automatically puts whoever we take anywhere from 10-25.

Some would even argue Cholowsky will be in the 6-9 range right off the bat.

Bonemer still too low. Definitely a top 5 guy at this point. I couldn't care less about the K's.

Wow. Don’t know much about him but the draft prestige was there as he was taken at least in the 2nd round. So what do you think the Sox should do going forward? I know you hate the idea of anyone replacing Montgomery at SS considering how good he has been there defensively. But…

Colson Montgomery — moves to 3B for Roch?

Roch Cholowsky — potentially takes over SS?

Caleb Bonemer — ???

Billy Carlson — ???

Using Carlson for trade bait like @fathom has said seems like a no brainer, but the guy still needs to produce to build his trade value.

Colson montgomery is an elite defensive shortstop. That's where he should play. None of those guys can hold a candle to him.

Bonemer goes to the outfield. Got a + arm. Bonermer so young and just shown he can dominate in multiple ways. Reminds me of minor league Mike trout. Obviously not the defender trout was.

Trouts MiLB K rate was 18.3%.

Caleb is 30.1%.

Said it kind of poorly, but meant the minor league version of mlb trout. Trout didn't hit with a ton of power in the minors.

That's what I've been saying. The guy has been rocking a 1.100 OPS. Who gives a s%*# if he's being more aggressive and his k rate is up? He's making a mockery of A+.
