They have already said they are willing to take on payroll.

7.5 for someone you don’t really need would be crazy.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Yeah, I don’t think Springer really adds anything here. But the fact that they are willing to take on money will hopefully help them get pitching.

The Sox’s revenue is up a fuckton vs. expectations…there is cash to be burn.

Unfortunately Detmers doesn’t have a huge salary so it won’t come into play when we acquire him.

Ray & Gausman both have $7.5M+ left on their deals this year. That’s going to be a big number for a lot of clubs. That’s where the Sox money will help.

Add Detmers and one of the other two and we are fucking cooking.

Horrible use of payroll dollars. And honestly, there is a greater scarcity of bats this deadline than SPs.

I seriously doubt Detmers is moving anywhere, let alone to our Sox.

Angels should move him now with a potential stoppage ahead. He’ll be a lot less valuable if next year gets wiped out.

Mariners wouldn’t do it, but it’s not the worst idea. If you extend Mune, there becomes an odd man out.

I doubt it happens but I kind of agree. Everyone wants to trade Meidroth but I think Montgomery has the riskier long-term profile (in part due to his back) and simultaneously should have more trade value

Did you just call a team that will be in 1st place on August 1st a rebuilding team?

Don't be naive.

Yea but the angels are pretty dumb.

Gausman agreed to waive his block on trades to Sox?

If Gonzalez was still around, you could make the Montgomery trade for pitching, and survived 2026 with Gonzalez and his bat until Roch and Bonemer arrive

I’m sure he would…the Sox aren’t the joke they recently were and he has a relationship with Bannister.

Naive? You just called a team in its competitive window “rebuilding” and literally want to do nothing at the deadline in order to protect the future. Reminder to everyone, but Murakami is only guaranteed to be here one more year and Vargas three. Outside of Roch & Bonemer, anyone should be on the table if it can help you can win across multiple seasons. And honestly, after the top 10 to 15, anyone should be on the table who can help you win this season.

We’re officially down to 4 1/2 days to the deadline. s%*# is going to pickup soon.

Some relevant SPs and when their next start is currently scheduled for:

  • Robbie Ray: Today

  • Freddy Peralta: Friday

  • Michael Wacha: Friday

  • Kevin Gausman: Saturday

  • Jose Soriano: Saturday

  • Clay Holmes: Sunday

  • Shane Bieber: Monday

  • Brady Singer: Tuesday

  • Reid Detmers: Tuesday

  • Seth Lugo: Tuesday

Hug watch formally kicks off today with Robbie Ray’s start which is scheduled for 8:40pm CST tonight. The Giants currently have their SP listed as TBD. Will be interesting to see if they actually let him make it.

It's going to be a fun weekend of me absolutely doing nothing except scrolling on my phone waiting for trades and baseball

Yup! I absolutely love the trade deadline even though 90% of the time I am underwhelmed by what the Sox do. But this time will be different as I think Getz feels the need to be aggressive but also not do something stupid.

Alcantara might be on the market again now.

LAD more interested in Skubal now with Ohtani's lingering uncertainty...

I’d prefer the Tigers hold Skubal and get nothing but a comp pick, but in lieu of that the Dodgers going after a SP we aren’t going to be interested in helpful.

Is Holmes still rehabbbg or is he ready to go?

He made another rehab start on Tuesday and looked good. 4 innings I believe.

Being a selling team especially lately is just more depression mode for me. I love this game and team and when your selling you know it's just going to be a real slow slow end to the season. Plus you know the games for the rest of the season mean very little except for a handful of players development. Just doesn't make for a fun deadline when that happens.

.....and we have a bidet in the clubhouse now!

I believe he’s scheduled to make his first start back on Sunday if not traded beforehand.

I may have to get back on Twitter/X for the weekend and/or turn off my wifi on my phone so I can access Soxtalk (still only works on cellular data). My normal weekend beer consumption may increase, for one reason or another.

If it isn’t increasing regardless, you aren’t trying hard enough.
