None of the rental pitchers have surplus values of more than $8 million. That's like the value of a mid level prospect. A lot of those guys make too much money and aren't having good enough years to justify the cost.

Some teams might get desperate, but they're not stupid enough to trade top 100 guys for 2 months of a guy making $20 million a year.

I understand, but use your own thoughts and logic about the Sox needs. Are the Sox going to trade for Adell or Soler when both Peters and B. Montgomery have higher OPS’s than both of them? No. This takes less than a second to debunk if you reason it yourself. The MLB Network tied the rumor to the wrong team. I already posted the real rumor above. Here it is again, and I would bet my left nut that the White Sox aren’t one of those several teams, unless one of these two outfielders comes with a starting pitcher…

Soler should be at DH.

Not really a clear upgrade except experience but already have Benintendi/Grichuk.

Maybe to replace Pereira/Hays spot but they won't take on millions in salary for that roster spot.

I will be so pissed if we trade an elite prospect at a premium for a slightly above average starter because he has control. Would be awful. Ray or Clay Holmes are better than Detmers and either and or both could be had without giving up one of our high upside guys.

How stupid could we be if we gave up the better prospect solely to have an extra year of control with a payroll that is as low as this clubs.

R.Ray had a very good game against SDP.

LAD might not deal for Skubal if Sasaki can keep averaging a 99.5 fastball with improved control/confidence.

I don’t want to see Detmers and Sox. I want to see Sox next to expiring starters who have been good but with big contracts that allow us to give minimal draft capital. If you give elite talent - be like Preller and go get elite talent back (not mediocre guys like Reid Detmer)
