I’m sorry but it’s fully on Getz at this point to keep trotting Schultz out there. You cannot tell me the rental price is that much higher a week before deadline that you can’t find someone to take meaningful innings.

Like moths to a flame the Panicans are now joining the game thread.

  • I would say that’s true for anyone posting on a baseball message board at 8:25 on a Monday

this pitching staff is garbage. what an awful game. it's not just on the pen, starters going 3-4 innings, just won't work.

Yesterday was great…but the power is lacking a lot. Outfield needs a jolt.

IMO it looked like his ass is bothering him

Any theories on what might be causing his ass pain?

Schultz has to go down to work his stuff out. Not sustainable having so many starters going so short. Leaves the mgr with no good option in long run and taxes the good arms too much.

I’m fine if Sox stay as is but you got to put Schultz in a better spot. Reality is we saw some improvement from Schultz for 3 innings and like I said he’s going to be good - but he flat out isn’t ready right now to be a big league starter.

Even when healthy, he acts like his back hurts

I think some of the stuff you see between swings, etc. is like a tic and not necessarily about discomfort

He could've

Exactly

Newcomb has been very good....what are you gonna do.

But boy, the pitching really s%*# the bed Friday and tonight.

I just read Fegan’s article on Schultz and it’s wild they are working through major changes to his breaking ball arsenal while also adjusting to the major league level and building up his innings. I have argued that we need to remain patient and finish his development in the majors, but I’m fully pivoting away from that now. He needs to figure out his arsenal and pitch shapes in AAA.

Lot of talk about the pen but IMO this is just a team loss. You lose 9-4 and the offense should be asking how they could have gotten a couple more right along with the pitchers trying to keep it closer.

How did Goldschmidt almost flick that pitch out?

I agree - If this were last year, I’d be fine with it, but with the pressure of the race I think it is too much to ask. I’m still very bullish on Schultz but they clearly have botched their approach to him this year. What I am hoping is he is closer than we think.

Last two starts before tonight stuff was weak but command better…today for 3 innings crisp…4th inning came apart again. Big guys can get out of whack quick, especially early in their careers but I’m hoping he’s due for a break through but I think you got to let it happen in more controlled situations right now.

The 3 runs in the first were flukey and poor NYY defense. Its just another typical offensive vanishing act after putting up a bunch of meaningless runs the day before, as has been happening for a month now. Feast or famine home run hitters like the good old days.

And I continue to think that if you're letting Schultz make the start tonight you can't take him out without a single run on the board in the 4th inning. If you don't trust him enough to see at least another batter with platoon advantage, then you don't trust him enough to start (which is fine, but then don't start him!)

What the hell was that?

Seranthony's luck evens out there lol

Agreed, it was a bad, flawed approach tonight

I wasn't watching at the time, but I was really confused at why they took him out at 70 pitches. He just got a ground out too. With Fedde only going 3.2 innings yesterday you gotta try to let him work out of that.

I went out to trim some trees and I come back to this s%*#? What the hell happened? Last I saw we were tied.

Lessons learned today: While the White Sox are playing, never get Thia takeout or trim trees.

I think to some extent he was only left in to get the groundout because they needed time to get Murphy loose. I'm betting that the decision to pull him was made once the bases were loaded and the brain trust was just gritting their teeth for the one more batter they needed to get Murphy in.

I unexpectedly left when we were up 3 nill - hearing this and then also seeing the horrible send on the Meidroth double gives me cause to hang this one of the coaching staff.

First time all year I’ve sung that tune and I know there’s been a lot of questionable in game decisions but this game was a turd on the staffs face.

Pisses me off - this was a winnable game.

Official scorer has to give Sam a hit there.
