B. I think I would have liked one more starting pitcher. Bullpen is solid. Offense is completely fine as is. But we could potentially get some internal starting pitching reinforcement help later in the season so we'll see. Our guys are going to start getting gassed though from all these innings. Have to hope and pray for no major injuries. If they can pitch down the stretch like they have the last 5 games or so, if that is sustainable and not just a fluke, then this team can be real dangerous in late August into September and...wait for it...OCTOBER!!

C. Every trade seemed like an overpay for dudes they have to work on to build the value they traded for. But they did what they said they would do in the way they promised. Each of the 4 trades makes them better. I hate to lose Adams, Boston Smith and Gabe Davis, but the mere fact the Sox traded them shakes me out of my stan-hood. I don't like losing Pereira.

Also, did they say they needed a CF?

There is no universe where Brenton Doyle is the best return you can get for Mason Adams. Seems like a very poor return on prospect capital. I feel like there was a better option than Brazobán (who I don't mind personally). I also would have preferred to pick up the single best asset that the combined value of all the prospects we traded could have netted than spreading it out on mediocre upgrades. The way I judge the trade deadline is what would have been the cost to get these guys if they were free agents? The answer to that is not a lot, absolutely not the prospect value we have up.

I think both pitching additions will be beneficial,

Doyle is excellent for his stellar defense but a work in progress on the offense side, another plus is he is not concussed.

Bart is insurance.

I don't care about the money or the players we flipped.

I thought they focused on SP, a reliever, and a RH OF bat. They need two starters, but I believe the asking prices turned them back to Thorpe and Schultz.

Getz got bent over and absolutely reamed. I think other GMs know he is a total chump. Only decent trade is for the reliever.

I'd rather trade for rentals that are good than players who suck and are under control.

I said C. Not actively harmful to the major league team but not what they needed if they wanted to seriously contend for a World Series. I know many would say that was never an option but yeah.

How many more innings does Schultz have in him? Seems like they will have to rely on Thorpe/Smith more.

I give it a C-.  After calming down, the only trade that really annoys me is Luis Castillo. What should have been a salary dump, Getz sends Seattle one of our more interesting prospects, and who plays a position in which he was the only interesting prospect.

The best trade was the Bart trade.
Otherwise, it shows that our farm still has a long way to go.

It’s just further proof that they won’t be doing much in free agency by grabbing a bunch of guys under control. Nothing is changing under Jerry in regards to free agency.

Plus now they'very added Bubic as well into the bullpen mix.

Pereira spent so much time on the IL I think the risk of another injury forced Getz to find someone who could play CF. Hays wasn't ready and he really isn't the answer in CF.

We were joking that Pereria tripped on the team plane and knocked himself out.

Lowe trade and maybe Adell change of scenery gives the Guardians the talent advantage in deadline moves unless the old Luis Castillo returns from the dead.

Adams coming off TJ is a factor that comes into play.

Between a C & a B, so I went B to err on the positive side. I like the reliever trade a lot. Bart they didn't give up much for, is a pretty good defender, and isn't a good hitter but is LIGHT YEARS better than Romo and Quero. I think Doyle is worth a look and it sounds like there was some competition for him. Don't really care much for what they gave up either. Also the usual suspects here hate the move and that automatically makes it better.

Castillo is mixed to me. I'm glad they didn't shy away from taking on money, I'm glad they got rid of Dominguez, I think Boston Smith is nothing special as a prospect, but they'd better hope they can fix Castillo and get him back to at least a halfway decent starter.

It's also funny how much people hate losing Pereira all of a sudden after one good game. If he was DFA'd before yesterday's game people would be celebrating. I would also rather have kept him, but it's not really worth worrying about. He was the best of some meh options.

So we traded for what we had and then virtually gave away in Hill. We’ve done several of these zigzag sort of things over the last couple of years.

JR didn’t want to eat Hays salary só forced Getz to find a defensive replacement in Doyle…?

As noted, already had a better player in Derek Hill unless they can somehow fix Doyle.

I don’t think his one recent good game is the frustrating part. But Pereira was supposed to be a power bat that strikes out a lot and could play all three outfield spots. Now we traded away a potential nice bullpen arm, a flier young kid, and DFA’d Pereira to replace Pereira with the similar player that he was supposed to be, only Doyle is 3 years older. That to me is the frustrating aspect.

I just don't think Pereira is much of anything because he can't stay on the field. We'll see if Doyle is any better.

Hill was a great waiver pick up but once Braden came up and took over right field, he was the odd man out. Peters took off and was playing great which was totally unexpected.
