I don't think he moves the needle much, probably more than Acuña, but the potential ceiling is lower. I'd give Acuña another spring training at the very least.
August 11Aug 11 FG's database is all screwed up but it seems like he's slightly better than Acuna and we don't need another CF with Doyle added. Does Acuna have an option year? If so easy call. I appreciate what Acuna has done as the 26th man but if we can get better lets do it.
August 11Aug 11 I don't think the squeeze is worth the juice. Mateo is, at best, a very marginal improvement over Luisangel. Acuna is a magician at SS, is faster, and is already comfortable in his role on this team. Mateo may provide a bit more at the dish but that's about the only advantage he has. Luisangel isn't the issue with this team. We need to be finding a replacement for Grichuk....he's clearly the weak link on this roster at this point in the season.

This guy is supposed to be very solid at SS as well FWIW. Acuna seems to get a long well with the club and if we have to cut him here I agree, if he has an option might be worth considering if Getz has a good idea of the personality of Mateo and if he'd be willing to be the 26th man.

I dunno who you're gonna find on the waiver wire that beats that.

I think it's these numbers that make me believe he's not hitting.....Runners on this season, a .607 OPSRISP this season, a .404 OPS
August 11Aug 11 Well, Mateo is at least better than Acuna. With Doyle on the team, you don't need Acuna to play CF anymore.

Acuna has actually been fairly good the last month or so, and outperformed Mateo in that time. Mateo does have a connection to Fuller though.
