Nestor Cortes signed with the Phillies. The Sox were in on him apparently, according to Francys Romero.

What do we have to lose letting Sandlin and Thorpe have a chance in the rotation? If they get lit up, who gives a s%*#.

Score some runs. Call up somebody to start the game. Whatever the outcome, the abuse of the bullpen and reluctance to bring up ANYBODY to help them out is just negligent at this point. Thorp, Smith l,

I really think that this and other excuses is a load of phatuey - we could have gotten creative and beat someone’s package or manned up and got Soriano.

Would be nice but it’s not really “must win” territory

You’re wrong. No rational or reason. Just… No, you’re wrong. So there!

If I had to guess, our starting pitching since the all star break is averaging less than 5 innings per start (non opener games). This is where the Smiths, Schultz, McDougal and Sandlin having bad years is brutal on the depth.

Totally agree. Not having your opening day SP or a single one of your three top 100 prospects who started the year at AAA in your August rotation is a massive failing and needs to be assessed. I get that Bannister has done fairly well with the major league guys, but the minor league development has been atrocious and that’s part of his job too. Changes are likely needed in some capacity and outside additions will need to be over-indexed in the short run to offset.

Although to nitpick I wouldn’t say Sandlin is having a bad year. I know you think he can’t get lefties out, but the changeup has been ok, he just hasn’t used it all that much. I feel like he’s flashed enough to be a competent back of the rotation SP, but you have to accept some short term growing pains to get there.

Question for the doctors and physical therapists on the board: if Schultz can’t use his optimal mechanics due to his leg/knee issues, is that something they could fix with a minor surgery?

I miss @ptatc but suspect that his knee isn’t the primary issue in his preformance.

lol I’m pretty sure Getz even addressed at the deadline that this was not what they expected to be doing

No. You’re wrong. Jerry’s penpal and our next GM @WBWSF is right! End of story!!

Detour over. GO SOX! GET ONE ON GETAWAY DAY!! LETS FUCKING GO!!!

Not everything related to Sox pitching should be reflexively attributed to Bannister. He learned of the Aug. 1 trade for starter Luis Castillo via social media like most everyone else.

If that's true, that's actually pretty bad? Why would Getz make a major trade for a starting pitcher without consulting the top pitching mind in the org?

LOL. Right.

If only JR had answered your letters and given you an interview. 😆

Thought that also. Fegan also put in the line about the Cease trade bust.

Getz stated before the trade deadline that the Sox would not be trading prospect capital but would be willing to take on player contracts. Really foolish. If you have a team in first place in August, you go for it, balls to the wall, no holds barred.

We may not see another year like the White Sox have had in 2026 for many more years. It has been fun to watch, until the series in Wrigley.

Imagine if they had gotten PCA for him. We’d all love the guy and he might have told a Cubs fan to suck his dick.

There’s another universe where this all happened… and it’s glorious.

I think the series in Wrigley has been very entertaining, akin to a playoff series. Yeah, we're losing, but so what? It's not like the Cubs are an awful team we should be embarrassed to lose to. We're going toe to toe with them, and the Dodgers and the Braves and the Yankees and the Rays and on and on (not the Red Sox).

Everyone needs to read this article. Full acknowledgement of our shortcomings on the pitching development side of things from Bannister. Shocking to see that we’ve made some major investments like Hawk-Eye motion trackers but aren’t fully utilizing the output data yet. Modernizing an org isn’t easy so perhaps it should be a relief that we aren’t 100% there yet given how many of the young arms have performed.

They didn’t have to sit in the pocket of either extreme. Didn’t need to mortgage the farm and they didn’t need to ride the pine.

There was a middle ground and all they needed was ONE more transaction to satisfy us all. Completely dumb.

I am SURE that if Getz had a Mulligan and knew then that Martin would have been in the spot he is in and has been stuck in - the guy would absolutely have traded for another pitcher.

IMO they should have just manned up and got Soriano. Would have been costly BUT they would have 4 of 5 rotation spots settled for now and for the relative future.

Oh well - Drew Thorpe can still come be a savior for him. Davis Martin can dawn his Superman cape and come save the day. Urquidy could shock the world and be a serviceable number 5. Fedde could stretch back out over the next couple weeks and be a solid backed piece.

They scuffled this one big time but hopefully we are in the middle of the biggest bump in the road that we will have to hold on for.

Still a lot of regular season left. Go out there and get em.

If the Sox had the likes of some of the old-school Managers like Billy Martin, Pete Crow would not see a strike and would be in a defensive posture at the plate. He' going to get on base anyway, so at least make it interesting. At least one brush-back pitch in every at-bat.

It’s actually amazing when you think of the fact that we could have just of easily been on a 5 game winning streak and taken the first two games while our team was set up HORRIBLY going into this series.

Wonder what would have happened if it was a true to the playoffs matchup and we had our ducks in a row.

We may have to wait a few weeks to find out. Really hope we don’t get into the playoffs and get run like 2020.

If the bracket ends up something like this I can absolutely see us making the ALCS and losing to TB, Boston or NY.

James Fegan:

“This spring, the White Sox anticipated having what would amount to nearly a second major-league rotation at Triple-A Charlotte, with top prospects Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith, Tanner McDougal and David Sandlin all in tow and all expected to reach Chicago by midseason.

Fast-forward to mid-August, and all four have debuted for a Sox team that’s surprising everyone — including their own front office — with how quickly they’ve gone from rebuilding to competing for a division title.”

JR use to answer my letters until I requested to be interviewed for the GM job. He actually took some of my advice on some matters years ago.

Really is a fantastic opening volley from Fegan in his new role. I don’t think any of us can really imagine what the future of this organization looks like if Banni is really able to actualize his ambition of making the Sox a top 5 MLB pitching development system again.

Pair that with our young positional core and the top heaviness of our minor league ranks… and a new eventual owner with pocket books to rival Cohen… fucking look out baseball, here come the White Sox… TraaLaaLaaaa!
