First off if they fired him for being a Sox fan that would be grounds for a million dollar lawsuit. if he could prove it.

I don't know why he was fired but what I will say is that having listened to him for a long time I never thought he expressed himself well on the air. Didn't have the voice for it and to often seemed to stumble trying to get his point across.

Regarding David, I know him, have interviewed him and at times provided info to him for his show...he's one of the biggest Cub fans you will EVER see. But, he's professional enough that on the air you can't tell that.

I agree with you on Mully, it was always an odd listen. Not sure why they just didn't ask him to retire. Kind of bad look.

Agree, don't think this is going to go well. Seems like a good enough guy but not sure the talent is there for a full time role.

Basically this move is counting on Haugh to be the seasoned vet in control of the conversation, and that is not the part he played with Mully at all

Kinda makes sense they would drop one from the 10-2 show since they had 3 hosts but surprised they didn't just move him into the morning show. Guess I would prefer Marshall to Payton.

So often the SCORE seems to wander away from sports talk. They don't do that as much in Phoenix

Midday is the albatross of the score. Mully wasn’t the problem but he was paid well. Interesting they made a pass at Parkins but his figure was too high.

Jeez, ruthless. Mully was fine, even though Jeffy seems to absolutely hate him. Perhaps he has lost a step in his older age. Haugh is okay too but his Cubs fan bias is pretty obvious.

In any case, Payton is going to be worse than Mully even on Mully’s worst day.

I reached out to Jeff to see what kind of reaction he's been getting. Here's what he wrote back:

"I have gotten resoundingly positive feedback. It's been wonderful! I've heard from people at The Score agreeing with the pipeline issue. Others say the show is doomed already. I certainly don't wish for that, but it might happen."

Mully was very vanilla. I liked him as he is a southside guy. He and Haugh were a bland listen but it did the job. Neither really add anything.

This is a radio station that still employs Leila Rahimi to not have a coherent sports thought and laugh constantly on air. Doomed is right.

It just really sucks for Aggrest to say all those things about Mully after he gets fired. I can’t really recall Jeff saying much about his distaste before he got axed, and that anecdote about him talking to haugh and being cool with him after criticizing him was like couching it, see it’s ok it’s professional in the way I called his work “revolting”

Sounds like White Sox front office from 2022-24 badmouthing every single player that left except for Hendriks and even Jose Abreu took some hits.

Sully's column mentions that Payton's ties to the McCaskey's are going to be a factor in anything critical about the Bears.

Haugh and Payton are both Cub fans, and they have a producer that is annoying Cub water boy. It's going to be Cubs & Bears 24/7.

If the Bears move to Hammond, Haugh will be cheering for his home state of Indiana and Payton will be in the McCaskey's corner.
