Colson's .862 OPS against lefties is better than it is against righties (.669).

Sam's is .621. Not great but not a blackhole.

Mune's is .716.

Braden is sub-.600 at .529 so I think we will be seeing Pham at DH with Grichuk in RF.

This all leads me to believe that picking up Pham is a great move. I mean, if it wasn't, y'all could just lay out why it isn't without just making things up. Also, while you chose to single out one team that chose not to retain Pham in the Mets who aren’t in contention, I did mention two other potential playoff teams in the Orioles and Phillies that dropped Pham like a bad habit.

Biggest issue I have is that he’s just not good anymore. Hate this habit of acquiring players who are having terrible seasons and putting them into a pennant race.

Nobody good is being traded for on 8/31. People who can handle a bat and a glove competently are possibly being traded for.

And for as much of a clubhouse cancer we're making him out to be, the Mets, Cardinals and now White Sox have all had him back, albeit different front offices in some cases, but the institutional knowledge isn't telling them to stay away.

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t just bring back a different old friend who appears to have been available, if they wanted a righty bench bat to face lefties. I wonder if they just don’t like him much.

I don’t think he’s a bad clubhouse guy. I do wonder how the fit will be on a team that is unserious in the dugout in a good way. I’m not really worried though, Vasil has the power of the wand

He opted out of the Orioles' deal. How did the Phillies drop him like a bad habit? He was starting regularly for them in AAA through this last Sunday. Call it questionable if you want. You don't have to embellish by pretending other teams couldn't dump him fast enough. They signed him to play for them with whatever reputation we perceive him to have. In some cases, he lasted months of the season with those teams.

Neither team chose to call up Pham to their big league team to retain his services for their playoff run. Is this not true?

I posted it above. I wonder if the Sox just don’t like him for some reason. Seems like he still plays better defense than Pham per Fangraphs but there may be some other reason.

It’s strange because they supposedly loved him prior to 2025. I think this is more Venable adores Pham.
