WHY??!!!

The fire and the passion!

…and the bat of a 38-year old nearing retirement.

Getz has carried on Kenny and Hahn’s legacy of thinking he can squeeze a few more magical appearances out of old washed-up players. A true White Sox tradition.

A guy who seems macho (he did beat up Joc) and would bully people who like sabermetrics.

Always struck me as a smart dude. Joc probably deserves to get slapped. Both things can be true.

This is all hindsight, but we really shouldn't have even bothered trading him. The money his trade freed up was used on Dominguez and Hays. We got negative value out of both. Dumping Dominguez even got us more salary to carry over for next year in Castillo. Just a series of bad decisions from Getz stemming from this trade.

He ended up getting hurt for a lot of the year (shocker, I know) and they wanted to give playing time to younger players plus cut payroll so I think it's better he was dealt. Fast-forward to the end of August and they're in first place with a need for another guy who hits lefties well with rosters expanding. Not too shocked he was claimed by another team.

Edit: and this coming from a guy who's really soured on him and wanted him gone for the last couple of years lol

I’d consider myself a bigger Robert supporter than most, but if they didn’t trade him, who knows if Peters would have blossomed into what he is now.

But you are right in that the money they reallocated by trading him ended up providing no value.

Just seems like a pointless acquisition to me. When was the last time this guy could hit MLB pitching?

The White Sox will mark the fourth organization that Pham has played for this season. The 38-year-old started the year with the Mets, but he was designated for assignment in April after starting out the year 0-for-13 with seven strikeouts. He has then spent time on minor league deals with the Baltimore Orioles and the Phillies.

Most recently, Pham has held a .250 batting average with three home runs and 25 RBI in 44 games for the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate.

Interesting how Dylan breaks it down

My best guess as to what roster moves will happen over the next 5 days:

Tues: Pham selected, Perez DFA McDougal recalled

Wed: Martin activated, Schweitzer optioned

Fri: Teel activated, Rogers DFA Thorpe activated, Urquidy DFA

Should be a busy week for the White Sox!

I would do Thorpe/Urquidy today so Thorpe is elegible for the postseason roster if he's the dude who came up in 2024.

Wham,Pham, Thank you mam.

Pretty sure Thorpe is eligible

Thorpe is eligible regardless.

Don’t forget Murphy as well

This makes absolutely no sense. Those moves probably make the team worse.

Urquidy is one of the only pitchers who isn't complete dogshit recently.

Zero reason to hold onto Romo over Rogers.

I would keep Rogers as insurance with Teel having an injury prone season.

Romo can’t hit LHP…I think they keep all 3

feels like it’s been the theme for a month

I would keep all 3 to be safe, Teel has gone down to many times this season.

I am surprised with McDougal coming up. He has the stuff but couldn't find the plate last time he was up.

I'd be surprised if Urquidy is DFA'd.

They need all the competent pitching they can get.

We don't need this.

I see today's moves as Sox being uncomfortable with how the OF would look if there were any injuries and perhaps considering leaving either Luisangel or Doyle off of the postseason roster.
