Castillo pitches Saturday, based on what he's done so far this year AND with the Sox, they'll be out of first place by Saturday night most likely.

And I'm guessing at least some of them were wondering what the front office was doing at the trade deadline compared to some other clubs.

Colson is so disappointing. He went from can’t miss TV last year to “this is going to be awful”. I don’t think he’s a winning player at all another guy they should consider trading this offseason if he has value.

Like winning is a habit. I have to wonder if this becomes a failure and not even a wildcard will the fans lose interest?

I always thought teams would adjust and figure him out last year. So many of his homers were on middle cut sliders or cutters last year. I was scratching my head at why they kept throwing those to a guy who is clearly a mistake hitter.

The problem is that he's not even hitting the mistakes on a regular basis anymore. Sure he'll run into a couple every week, but he also wastes so many hittable pitches that he was crushing last year.

You can deal with the holes in his swing when he gives you power on a consistent basis, but now we're not even getting that.

To be clear on this guy's system, AFAIK it treats TOOTBLANs and bad defense as part of the luck, so especially in this game with Sox making two outs on the bases and giving up at least one run with their defense they ruined some of their own luck.

I’m so fascinated to hear how the Getz Suck-Up Society tries to excuse the last few months when the season is over (if they don’t make the playoffs).

FWIW, not referring to anyone on here. More the media members that were trying to convince themselves and readers that the deadline wasn’t a debacle.

Does anybody think Colson is going to change offensively? It looks like he will strikeout 200 times yearly. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't on the team in 2027. I noticed on the CWS website they list Roch Cholowsky ETA as 2027. I don't know if that is going to happen. The organization can't be happy with Colson striking out as much as he does.

And he’s not sprinkling in a few bloopers like he did last year. I’m still so shocked at how he refuses to ever hit the ball to left or center. He did that way more often last year with authority. I can recall one ball he’s driven to left field all season, and it was caught at the wall.

The Roch wrist stuff isn’t exactly accelerating his arrival. I don’t think it’s serious, but I also don’t think it’s a total nothing.

Yeah he was definitely more of an all fields hitter last year. He only pulls the ball now. Anything he hits to the opposite field is by pure accident.

Seems like everyone in the Sox organization that has interacted with Pham really likes him. Will coached him in Boston, Barfield was AGM in AZ when Pham was one of their most trusted hitters, and Getz signed him up in 2024. I liked what I saw from him in 2024. I don't necessarily want to go get drinks with him but I appreciate a guy who is just obsessed with playing baseball as well as he can. I don't know if the team needed that this year but I don't think he hurts anything other than by having the physical (in)abilities of a 38 year old.

The Sox aren't going to get rid of a #1 draft pick without giving him a LOT of rope.

But like I've said before, he's Adam Dunn who happens to be able to play the infield pretty well.
