Even I’m not sure if it is the for sure right decision due to his potential to pitch multiple innings or a single dominant inning like he did before last night’s outing, but who is the next worse reliever in the bullpen right now outside of him? Hicks? Stuff-wise, I would say Richards but he is actually performing. I don’t think you could make the case for either of those guys to sit out the playoffs for Castillo.

Richards does everything. Hicks has a great inning in him every couple of outings.

I don't think Sox need a 13 man pitching staff for a short playoff.

Agreed. Unless they make Castillo a starter again (doubtful), I don’t see where he fits in the bullpen either over the other options.
