I don't really understand what rooting interest the Sox should have. Why would we care who wins the AL West? I'd just prefer the second place team fall out of wildcard contention.

Sad that both the bullpen with Seranthony and the farm system with Boston Smith’s .990 OPS would both be better right now, but we also get Castillo’s $22.75 million salary on the payroll for next season instead of Seranthony’s $10 million salary. About as bad of a trade as a GM could draw up.

It’s potentially who we play in the post-season. I’d prefer Texas over Houston.

If we take the wild card we will play the AL West. Houston owns us so Id root for Rangers to win and play them in the Wild Card round.

IMO, best not to overthink it. Yeah, I think the Rangers seem like a worse team than the Astros. But let's just get in and enjoy the ride. Anybody can get lucky in a 3, 5, or 7 game series so I'll be hopeful but this team isn't built for the playoffs. I'm not inclined to game it out too far ahead as if it is going to matter a whole lot who the Sox play. If they are worthy, they'll beat any of those clowns.

Probably could have won by 10 had we used Hagan Smith and Grant Taylor. I’m fine with winning by three using two gas cans who won’t see the post-season.

The preview of this game on my phone this afternoon suggested to take the under in this one.....I'm sure glad I don't gamble.

Still, it was too close for comfort after giving up the grand slam, and Will left him in , and he also gave up two deep fly balls to end the game. He was throwing meatballs out there.

I don't want to play Houston because that overly friendly Astros fan might come back to the Gamethreads....he was insufferable the last time we played Houston in the playoffs.

Let's look at this in a positive way. Surely this is Castillo's last outing. Glad we are able to definitively decide that in a game even he couldn't blow rather than a closer, more important game a few days from now

Peters pinch hit tonight; he is getting close to starting again..

Noah looked awesome and is going to be quite valuable down the stretch

Grich & Chase are smoking hot, Doyle hits an oppo homer and a Nick Punto 20 foot single, he has been hitting better with more playing time.

The high leverage relievers got another night off, (Grant did start to warm up but didn't throw many pitches)

I wouldn’t put money on it. Seems like they are trying to squeeze him into some sort of usable function regardless of how awful he is.
