@WhiteSox2023 it’s time to admit that I was right and the Cubs trade deadline sucked.

Boyd and Assad were their trade deadline acquisitions?

I was going to post an animated gif of Cartman from South Park saying “FU Kyle” but I thought better of it and will instead agree to your terms.

Never caught the Brewers and are now being dicked down by the Padres in a short series.

That was my peace offering for him to admit my take was right when he said the Cubs had a great deadline and I said they are now further back from the brewers than they were.

Holmes didn’t pitch at all in the playoffs! What a bunch of dumb assholes the Cubs are!

Neither will Castillo. Your argument is weak.

My argument isn’t the Sox had a good trade deadline. It’s that the Cubs didn’t have as good as one as you were drooling over all second half.

Well, my initial comments that you are responding to was that they had a better trade deadline than the Sox.

To be fair neither the White Sox, nor the Astros make the playoffs in the NL. Neither does Cleveland or Boston by record. The Cubs would have won the ALCentral by 4 games.

And the old arguments of parity issues within the league are not as valid as in the days before interleague play.

Well sucks for them!

To me, it looks like the Cubs traded the equivalent of William Bergolla and Tristan Peters for Kevin Gausman. Then they traded a lesser Caleb Bonemer for Clay Holmes. They then sent the equivalent of Mason Adams and Boston Smith to the Angels for a reliever, Zeferjahn. Then they sent a minor league reliever and maybe an Anthony DePino to the Marlins for 5 innings of Braxton Garrett. I'm pretty sure that if Chris Getz did that, we would hear about the horrible TDL he had for 2 months, and about how every single one of those minor leaguers traded would have batted .400 or put up a 1.00 ERA for the big league club.

I focus less on what we didn’t get, than what we didn’t give up. For tge latter I am grateful. I hate the trade deadline being midsession

The cubs have really spent a ton of prospect capital for very little return in the last 2-3 years. That Tucker trade was brutal. I heard that the 4 ex cubs hitters in this playoff have like 5 home runs in the two games

I’m really not sure why they started Gausman yesterday. He had been atrocious on the road. Also, bringing in Palencia when they did was insane.

The Cubs half assing their free agency's and deadlines is catching up with them. One hundred million a year in organizational profits (without any of the offbook stuff) and they still cry poor.

They didn’t half ass free agency at all last year. Their pitching injuries killed their chances to be elite this season. Outside of getting Skubal, they also went huge at the deadline.
