April 7, 200421 yr And they're trailing 4-2 to Cleveland. We may not be the only team suffering from early season blues (I can't believe I'm saying that, IT WAS ONE GAME!). Anyway, Mauer is out of this game. That would be horrible for the Twinkies if he missed significant time.
April 7, 200421 yr As I said on the other board, the injury didn't look serious at all. He was running towards home, and had to stop and retreat back to 3rd. Didn't appear to have a look of pain on his face.
April 7, 200421 yr Damn just the second game of the season and your stud catcher gets injured... They better hope none of their pitchers get hurt. They don't have the depth of the bullpen like last year to carry the load from 5-7 innings pitched from a starter so I don't think Mauer's injury affects the twins as much as the team's future.
April 7, 200421 yr Also, Johan Santana left the game - he strained something in their arm. I like that guys stuff, but, I dont think he'll be able to stay healthy for a whole season.
April 7, 200421 yr The Bottom Line also said Santana left the game who is the pic you have? for myself I am remembering someone too these days
April 7, 200421 yr who is the pic you have? for myself I am remembering someone too these days That would be Layne Staley, lead singer of Alice in Chains
April 7, 200421 yr We just gotta worry about our guys. The Twins could lose half their team and it would mean s***, if we don't take care of our own business...
April 7, 200421 yr We just gotta worry about our guys. The Twins could lose half their team and it would mean s***, if we don't take care of our own business... exactly, we're only one game into the season and we're already watching the scoreboard. what if, and i'm not saying it's likely, the tigers or indians become the royals of 2004? let's wait a month at least to see how things start shaping out before we start scoreboard watching.
April 7, 200421 yr Torii Hunter also sprained(?) maybe pulled his hammy. He was taken out in the 11th
April 7, 200421 yr Starting pitcher Johan Santana left the April 6 game with the Indians in the fifth inning with an injury to his left forearm. Santana, the only left-hander in the rotation, called trainer Jim Kahmann to the mound after he felt spasms in his forearm on his third pitch of the fifth. He was replaced by Carlos Pulido. Rookie C Joe Mauer left in the third inning of the April 6 game with a mildly sprained left knee. A team spokesman said Mauer was hurt sliding in attempt to catch a foul ball behind the plate in the top of the inning. His status is day-to-day. ... good news!
April 7, 200421 yr Damn. The injuries have started already for the Twinkees. Who will be doing their catching now?
April 7, 200421 yr I'm guessing LeCroy will split time there with Henry Blanco. When LeCroy is catching Offerman should be DHing.
April 7, 200421 yr I'm guessing LeCroy will split time there with Henry Blanco. When LeCroy is catching Offerman should be DHing. wow. Now that sucks. They are really going to miss Pryz.
April 7, 200421 yr Josh Paul ---------------- He's a Minny type player and I doubt he stuck w/ the angels
April 7, 200421 yr I think Bengie Molina started the season on the DL, so both Paul and Jose Molina made the roster. Jose hit a homer yesterday for the Angels. Tough loss for the Twins.
April 7, 200421 yr Just saw on Roto that Mauer is out 3 weeks. MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - Minnesota Twins rookie catcher Joe Mauer has a torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee and will be sidelined indefinitely. Twins general manager Terry Ryan confirmed on Wednesday that Mauer, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft, will undergo surgery at a date to be determined. Now it sounds a little more serious than 3 weeks... from rotoworld
April 7, 200421 yr Matt LeCroy is a friggin moose--if he went up north during hunting season he would be in serious danger. Um, that's all. And here's the latest from Roto: MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - Minnesota Twins rookie catcher Joe Mauer has a torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee and will be sidelined indefinitely. Twins general manager Terry Ryan confirmed on Wednesday that Mauer, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft, will undergo surgery at a date to be determined.
April 7, 200421 yr Matt LeCroy is a friggin moose--if he went up north during hunting season he would be in serious danger. Sure but how many moose do you know who steal 142 bases?
