Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Ignore the spelling on this, but I read this morning that the Sox are officially calling up Vic Darrensbourg and have again stalled Kelley Dransfeldt's inevitable enshrinement in Cooperstown by sending him back down. I hadn't seen this here, so I thought I would add it. Viva Ozzie!

The Critic
Wasn't Darensbourg AWFUL in spring training? I seem to remember him stinking up Arizona pretty bad.

Xero
I thought Varensbourg was released during Spring Training?
Rex Hudler
I thought Varensbourg was released during Spring Training? Nope, sent to AAA. Originally, they Sox said they were going to bring up Darensbourg but not activate him until they figured out if Crede was hurt badly. If they are activating him now, and sending down a middle infielder, then Crede must be just fine. This was as of Saturday night's post-game. EvilJester99
If I remember correctly as stated b4, didn't Takatsu have a very bad ST? Bad enough to where they weren't sure if he'd make the team? Darensbourg can't be much worse than some of the bums they have in the pen right now.
Xero
He has a career ERA of 5.10...
Xero
His best season was in 98 when he had a 3.68 ERA in 70+ innings but has not had an ERA below 4.20 since...last year his ERA was
Guest JimH
Darensburg did have a rough spring, but he's been pitching well at Charlotte. Santiago has been knocked around a bit lately, Porzio is not with the organization and Sanders has not had a good year in AAA. He's slated for the long relief role with the Sox. Rex Hudler
I wouldn't have minded Bajenaru or Majewski getting a shot, but after the 5th starter carousel, my guess is they wanted a veteran who has been in the bigs before.
EvilJester99
What ever happened to Grilli? I thought he was doing a good job in AAA.
Wise Master Buehrle
This makes sense. With Wunsch on the DL, and a bunch of our relievers stinking up the place, why not give someone who's pitching well in AAA a shot?
dasox24
What ever happened to Grilli? I thought he was doing a good job in AAA. He is doing well, but I think that the Sox want to keep him getting work as a starter even if it is in AAA.

witesoxfan
As was Takatsu IIRC Takatsu WAS awful. Awful enough, IIRC, that, had he not had a guaranteed contract, he would have been released or at the very least, sent to the minors. Good thing that didn't happen. Shingo retired his last 24 batters and is only 3 shy of the bullpen equivalent of a perfect game. Well, he was - until I jinxed him just now. The Beast
I heard we cut Porzio. Grilli could be an option...did we trade something for him?
DBAHO
I heard we cut Porzio. Grilli could be an option...did we trade something for him? Grilli was a Rule 4 or Rule 5 draft pick, I always can't remember which draft that is. We paid $50,000 to select him I think.
