The Critic
When Shingo comes into the game, I swear I am NOT worried about the outcome anymore. I've felt this way the past bunch of his appearances, but today it was really strong. When he came in to face Sosa, my question was not IF he would get Sosa out, but HOW he'd do it. And I considered it a win as soon as he came in. Does this mean that he'll never blow a save? No. But I have the utmost confidence in Shingo as the closer, and I haven't felt that way about a Sox closer in a long time. It feels goooooooooooooooooooooooood............. SHINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Wedge
I got that feeling, too. I never felt it about Koch or even Foulke, but I feel it about Shingo.
Wise Master Buehrle
When, or maybe even if, Shingo blows his first save, I hope no one jumps on him. He has been as solid as solid can be this year. His ERA is under 1... that's unbelievable. Are there any other relievers with an ERA under one? I think Nathan has that as well. Takatsu's ERA: 0.95 I love it. Stanford and M. Gonzalez also are under one but with a minimal amount of innings pitched.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
I got that feeling, too. I never felt it about Koch or even Foulke, but I feel it about Shingo. There was a long stretch there when I felt that way about Foulke but that was then and this is now...... GO SHINGO!!!
Gene Honda Civic
I've had that feeling for awhile. Today was actually the first where I was a little bit worried. Shingo didn't look as sharp in his last outing vs. Cleveland. I had a bad feeling Shingo would throw sammy a firt pitch fastball, and I was sure it would be gone. Thankfully, he stayed away from the first pitch heat, throwing a breaking ball for a strike. Stepping up in front of that many people in a playoff-type atmosphere gives me even more confidence in Shingo.
CWSGuy406
The Cell was absolutely electric when Shingo entered the game - also, gotta love the gong when Shingo enters the game. I love him so damn much...

It would be ridiculous if people did start talking s*** because of his first blown save here in the States. Shingo has done such a good job
CWSGuy406
Cheat - would you be able to calculate Shingo's ERA discluding his first appearance in New York?
Yoda
Cheat - would you be able to calculate Shingo's ERA discluding his first appearance in New York? Now that you say that, I was wondering who hit a HR against Shingo? Because he has allowed only one.
Gene Honda Civic
Cheat - would you be able to calculate Shingo's ERA discluding his first appearance in New York? That would be 28.2 IP with 1 ER = 0.31ERA
Mr. Showtime
Now that you say that, I was wondering who hit a HR against Shingo? Because he has allowed only one. That was Bubba Crosby of the Yankees. Yoda
That was Bubba Crosby of the Yankees. Here is a link to Shingo's stats... Shingo Stats Thanks for that. While I was at it, I clicked the link and checked the date of when the guy hit a HR against Shingo. If I'm not mistaking, Shingo had an 18.00 ERA that one day? BridgeportHeather
Shingo totally made Sammy look silly today (Sosa said he didn't know what blew by him). He's that type of guy who doesn't fear ANYONE on ANY roster. Unfortunately, he hasn't pitched enough and isn't known well enough to make the all star roster. Shingo's wife is in town for this homestand, and she said that Shingo absolutely LOVES it here. She said that Shingo never got standing ovations in Japan, but he's getting tons of those over here. Keep it up, Sox fans! Make him want to stay! Wouldn't it be something if he didn't blow a save all year long?!
SoxAce
Wouldn't it be something if he didn't blow a save all year long?! I wouldn't mind an Eric Gagne Jr.
Jordan4life_2007
I just wish he had been the closer from the start. Not just for the fact we would have about 5-7 more wins. But the fact he would have more saves therefore giving him atleast a decent shot at being an all-star.
