That would get the Braves out from underneath the last three years of Jones' contract which runs through 2007. Ordonez is still a great player and will be one of the most important players on the market this winter. Whether or not he gets traded remains to be seen, but Ken Williams did say last night that he's working on another major trade.

June 28, 200421 yr Basically, we let them rent Maggs for 1/2 a year, give them Rauch while getting a veteran pitcher who throws a lot of innings, has won 21 games, been to a World Series, and gives your team a chance to win everytime he takes the bump PLUS the best CF in the MLB for 3 more years who will give you 25/100 and a Gold Glove or 2.

June 28, 200421 yr SP Randy Johnson CF Andruw Jones (as long as it's for Konerko and prospects, not Maggs) C Brandon Inge (not a big priority) Sox take on at least 5-6 mill of Unit's money (not counting deferred here) Jones makes 4 Mill more than Konerko Inge is cheap That's at least another 10 Mill that JR would have to add to 65+ Mill payroll. 75 Mill is more than than anyone ever expected he would spend. And most likely he won't unless we literally sell-out the stadium in every game in July and he wisely decides to capitalize on the momentum. Of course.....even if JR is willing to add so much salary........Unit might not wanna go anywhere, Atlanta might laugh at Konerko and Detroit might not want to deal with us.
June 28, 200421 yr Hey, it says wish list, and how many people wish about Brandon Inge? He's having a semi- break-through offensive season (away from Comerica especially) and has very good defensive tools. Makes about 350 K, give or take a few pennies. As a converted SS, he has deceptive athleticism and average speed - faster than most catchers. He is stuck behind Pudge, JR on the Detroid depth chart.

June 28, 200421 yr Just for reference, the last time the Sox traded with anyone in the AL Central was ages ago. They simply don't trade with one another. I know it's been since '87 or '88 with KC, and I think 12 years with the Tigers. I'll have to look it up, but they very seldom deal with one another.

If Magglio has a career 2nd half (say, 1110 OPS and 75 RBI) with the Sox and helps Frank lead this team deep into postseason, that would be awesome. Get Andruw Jones with Konerko and prospects if possible. Atlanta used to love them some Ryan Klesko - and Paulie is a 'stache away.
