When I heard 'Miss Murder', it hardly sounded like Davey at all. What's your biggest gripe with this release?

litteraly everything. its just weak sauce. One would think that since they had 2 years to write this album and said they wrote over 100 songs for it they would be able to pick 13 that didn't suck.

Damn new Junior Boys. Sweet. Did the first one ever come out domestic?

Queens of the Stone Age.. thats the other band that I knew he played with. Didn't know that he did the drums for Nine Inch Nails though.. one wonders where he gets time for all of this :P

He also did drums for a great old Punk band called Scream. Best band he was ever in, IMO. He's on the No More Censorship album, for those interested.

Whats DC band did he do vocals on before Nirvana?

Grohl drummed with Bad Compaqueen on that VH1 Rock Honors show.

That show proved one thing - ONLY Rob Halford can still sing his older material.

Paul Rodgers did a fair job at covering Queen, although it still sounds weird to me and likely always will.

Joe Elliott sounded like s***.

Paul Stanley sounded like monkey s***, although Gene, Fake Peter and Fake Ace had some decent backup vocals going on.

All in all, not a very good show at all IMO.

See, I couldn't get into them.

To me it sounds like the worst parts of Black Sabbath, Monster Magnet and Led Zeppelin.

I see trucker hats and "vintage" Foghat t-shirts when I hear Wolfmother.

I like them a whole bunch. Nice hooks on many songs. They themselves look nothing like what they sound like.

No idea, but he did drums for Scream, who were on the Dischord label with is based in DC, so maybe you are thinking of them? I don't think Scream was from DC though. This was all just before Nirvana grabbed him. I remember when Cobain was looking for a drummer. His one rule was that the guy had to be a HARD hitter.

"I like them a whole bunch. Nice hooks on many songs."

Wow, KG and I agree on a band, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Can I change my opinion on them? :P

Remember the Foghat Principle. Your fourth album should be a Double Live Album!

Hey, I bet we would actually agree on many bands, especially if you like stuff like this. Have you ever heard sHeavy?

Total Sabbath, but very cool.

I'll oblige...

They're a crappy ripoff of Smart Went Crazy.

I won't say which artists, but color me uncool.

I guess Bon Jovi or Neil Diamond.

Giving Phil Collins credit, his early days with Genesis (as long as Hackett was in the band) were friggin' great. Even ABACAB was a decent enough album for what it was. His main fault now is ignoring his amazing skills as a drummer, IMO.

Some of their songs like The White Unicorn and Tales from the Forest of Gnomes I could get into really easily, but then others like Apple Tree were pretty bad I thought.

So it's a mixed bag. I do like em like I said earlier in the thread, but they could be better, and hopefully their next album shows this.

Anyone listened to the latest Snow Patrol album?

Anyone listened to the latest Snow Patrol album?

Haven't heard the whole album, but I love "Hands Open".

Is the rest of the disc similar?

I didn't like any of their previous stuff, for what that's worth.

Luh Ame, Lame.

I liked Hands Open enough to buy the album, but the song really bothers me now as does the rest of the album. The lyrics give the opportunity to convey a s*** ton of emotion, but everything is so controlled. The music is pretty tight, but this would be a better album if it wasn't so polished and the singer let loose. I need to hear his voice crack when he sings that his hands are open... He oughta be giving it everything. On the album it sounds like he can't be bothered to.
