July 26, 200421 yr With the injuries to Maggs and Frank and the need for another bat in the line up could Frank Catalanotto be a good fit for our club. He is career .299 hitter and is currently hitting .331 He has just over 1 Millon left on his contract. He also posses above average speed. The only down side is he is not a power hitter. He only has 1 homerun all year. Now he is currently coming off a stint on the DL, but I really believe he could play right field for us while maggs is out mabey bat 7 in the order or possibly second if Rowand is not playing center field.
July 26, 200421 yr He's been discussed before, and could be a very productive left-handed bat in the two slot.

He would be my first choice for Kenny to go trade for to replace Maggs.
July 26, 200421 yr Ive wanted little cat down on the southside ever since we played toronto this year.
July 26, 200421 yr I wouldn't mind him if he's able to play RF but I'm not sure he has the arm for it.
July 26, 200421 yr He would be my first choice for Kenny to go trade for to replace Maggs. Eh, I don't know about first choice, but he is up there.
July 26, 200421 yr Author According to the scouting report he can play left as well as right. it also says he has played a little first and some second
July 26, 200421 yr My feelings are that I like him yet doubt his availability. A fairly young (he's like 29 or so, right?), cheap, left-handed player that can play multiple positions. I don't think Toronto is going to trade him.
July 26, 200421 yr Author I don't think Toronto is going to trade him. According to ESPN and other sources around the league they say the Jays are trying to shop him
July 26, 200421 yr Besides for a middle reliever, Catalanotto would be the player i want on this team most. Would it be possible for him to bat as the lead-off? Either way he can be valuable down the stretch
July 26, 200421 yr I hope Kenny is listening.. Kenny Williams trying to think of a player to replace maggs, goes surfing the internet- Soxtalk.com has a thread about me acquiring Frank Catalanotto, well the fans have spoken, I'm all over it.

July 26, 200421 yr According to the scouting report he can play left as well as right. it also says he has played a little first and some second If you are an outfielder and can only play one of the corners, you are a crappy outfielder.
July 26, 200421 yr Utilities like him are valueable and hard to find. I couldn't have said it better myself.
July 26, 200421 yr He would be an awesome two hole hitter and you could even make him an unorthodux leadoff hitter, although I'd disagree with that. It move Jose back into a run producing slot, giving the Sox Harris and Cattalanto at the top of the lineup to set the table for Lee, Everett, Konerko, Valentin which also creates a good mix of lefties and righties. The other nice part about this acquisition, is if Maggs/Thomas come back, he's very useful becuase he can play numerous positions, so he's not just pegged into one slot. I'd love to get him, I just fear that it would cost a lot to get him. However, if the Jays would be interested in someone like Grilli and Ruddy Yan, I'd do it.
July 26, 200421 yr If you are an outfielder and can only play one of the corners, you are a crappy outfielder. Not necessarily - in some cases the corner guys might just not have the speed needed to cover the larger ground in center. If your corner guys are fast, you might be able to carry a relatively slower CF, but generally speaking, your fastest OF will usually be in center.
July 26, 200421 yr The Cat is a keeper. Solid hitter. Good eye. Plays hard. Can hit high inthe batting order. Just do it.
July 26, 200421 yr Author I love the guy thats why i started the thread. I wonder what the Jays want in return. Catalanotto has a .374 OBP I would get this guy in a heart beat. he is a very effective man at the top of the order

July 26, 200421 yr Frank Catalonotto is one of the more underrated guys in all of baseball, IMO. He is just a flat out great contact hitter that can fill a bunch of needs for any club. Guys like this are instrumental in winning.
