September 2, 200421 yr I read through these boards everyday and I have come to the conclusion that there are still actually some people on Soxtalk who want Jose Valentin in a White Sox uniform next season. I think this claim is absolutely ludicrous. If there is one player I don't want to see next season, it is Jose Valentin. It snice that you can have a SS hit 25 HR's everyear, but it still doesn't matter. This guy's average just keeps dropping lower and lower every single season and I think most Sox fans have had enough. What will it take for some to stop caring about this guy. Will it be when his average finally drops below the Mendoza Line? I don't get it, this guy is the typical White Sox player over the last 4 years. Jose Valentin can't hit for average, he can't field to save his life and he has below average speed for a SS. The only thing he gives you is power. Well, the white sox don't need power anymore, we need grinders and Ozzieball players. We need someone who can hit in the clutch and hit for average. The 2005 White Sox should not include Jose Valentin!
September 2, 200421 yr Jose should just add an E to the end of his last name. 4 years and people still don't get it. :headshake
September 2, 200421 yr Ill never understand how you can add an E on the end of his name and pronounce it the same way.
September 2, 200421 yr well played everyone. I agree, Cheat. Nice going on holding back the personal insults gang.
September 2, 200421 yr I agree, Cheat. Nice going on holding back the personal insults gang. Shaddup ya dolt. Pertaining to the actual thread: I would rather give Uribe a shot. You're correct when you say Jose should be gone. He's just the typical home run or nothing hitter on this team, and we can't deal with that anymore. Give SS to Uribe or sign a Free AGent.
September 2, 200421 yr f*** Valentin, we might as well ad an E to his name it fits... This guy better not be on the damn team next year!
September 2, 200421 yr f*** Valentin, we might as well ad an E to his name it fits... This get better not be on the damn team next year!
September 2, 200421 yr Who's Jose Valentine? I was going to say that but i figured someone already did....lol.
September 2, 200421 yr I like him against RHP But his .124 average in July and his .187 average in August are inexcusable. I love the guy as a player...he plays his ass off, is a smart player, is a clutch player, and is very underrated defensively(people too often look at his errors and do not realize that he is among the league's leaders in both range factor and zone rating), and he would probably give his left nut for this franchise...but it could be, and probably is, time for a change If this really is Jose's last year as a member of the Sox...it has been a good run for him. He's been a hell of a player for us.
September 2, 200421 yr I like him. I wouldn't mind an upgrade if there's one available to us. He's better than Uribe, though. I'd prefer Jose over Uribe.
September 2, 200421 yr Myself, I would love to see Jose on a fast plane to anywhere but here. His HR or nothing and stone hands has worn out his welcome.
September 2, 200421 yr We need to get rid of all the guys with crappy averages: Crede, Valentin and Bochard. Bochard is a no talent ass clown. He reminds me of a young Valentin who would strike out or homer.
September 2, 200421 yr idonno even though he hasnt hit 2 well at all in the majors im all for giving borchard a chance next year in spring training i like him
September 2, 200421 yr I would like to see Valentin go, but I don't see a whole lot of options out there in FA. Unless we can somehow steal Renteria from St. Louis, Cabrera from Boston, Nomar from the Cubs(I don't want him anyways, and I doubt the Sox would cough up enough cash, but I must include him in this list because he is an upgrade over Jose), or Guzman from Minnesota, there isn't a ton out there. As for Uribe, he's not any better. He might be a slight upgrade defensively, but he is just as bad if not worse at the plate, the only reason his average is higher is because he hit everything in sight in April and May. I think we need to do something at SS, but if we lose out on the top guys I'm not going to hang myself or hunt Kenny down if Jose is back.
September 2, 200421 yr People that want to get rid of Jose and everybody else need to realize they are average ballplayers to decent ballplayers and we could do A LOT WORSE. We just notice their deficiencies cause we see em every day. WE COULD DO LOT WORSE THAN JOSE V
