I kind of agree. Edwin Jackson had a horrible yr in AAA. A 5.86 ERA, in 90 2/3 IP, 55 BB's and 70 K's.

BMac had a combined era of 3.00, in 180 IP, 202 k's, 30 BB's. Both are only 21.

Though Cora is better than Harris, the sox with a Bmac/ Harris deal isn't bad

Yeah no doubt the A's would prefer Cora over Harris. Even though Harris is quick and has 50 SB potential, the A's never let their players steal bases much. That's why I thought a Lee / Byrnes swap could be used, to even out the deal more, although then the A's would be adding salary there too. Also, Beane isn't letting any other organisation have a 72 hour window for that team to negotiate a long - term deal with Hudson, so that's going to shy some teams away from acquiring him.

There's a reason for that. See my last post in the "Sox talking to Oakland" thread.

Another Japanese Player on the radar;

He's 31 years old and can field at first, third and short. He hit 39 HR's in 2000, 46 HR's in 2001 and 42 HR's in 2002.

THis isnt' going to happen. IIRC each team who is interested has to put up a bid, just for the right to negotiate with the player. Ichiro was something like $13 million for the Ms to be able to talk to him. We don't have that kind of money.

Good riddance.  I'm looking forward to potentially facing Arthur "Rocky" Rhodes 19 times next year.

Awesome. Terrible trade for the tribe, imo, if the Indians don't go out and sign atleast one starting pitcher they will have a worse record then they did last year, jmo.

From Stark:

Our buddy Peter Gammons reported this week that the teams are considering reviving a dormant three-way trade with the White Sox. But an AL executive with knowledge of those talks reports the White Sox and Yankees haven't spoken in more than a month.

And one baseball man who has talked with the Diamondbacks says they're not trading Johnson without getting a top-of-the-rotation starter back -- and the pitcher they were supposed to get in that White Sox three-way, Jon Garland, wouldn't qualify.

Well, if there's a better variation of that trade out there, someone had better start looking for it fast -- because, in the meantime, the Yankees are making other plans..........

ESPN Radio in St. Louis is reporting that the Red Sox have offered Renteria 4yrs/$44mil

remember though that this is the same place that thought Hudson to the Cards was a done deal

From Stark:

LOL!

I thought Jon Garland would be considered a "top-of-the-rotation starter!" Just ask some of the posters here. He can win 18 games at any moment, a guarantee to win 12, and he's only 23, I mean 24, wait, 25 years old.

according to offman of 670 the score that Jared Wright did not pass his physical

The Reds have no intention of parting with Adam Dunn or Austin Kearns for Tim Hudson.

Maybe if Hudson were signed for another three or four years they'd consider it, but if that were the case, the A's wouldn't be looking to move him. "He'd look great in a Reds uniform," GM Dan O'Brien said. "But, no, it's not going to happen." Dec. 11 - 1:19 pm et

Good for the Reds. That would be foolish on their part.

Randy Johnson has little interest in staying in Arizona despite the team's recent moves.

"Randy has a very positive outlook about the Diamondbacks," agent Alan Nero said. "It's just that he's determined that he needs to be elsewhere." That somewhere else is probably New York, but the Angels intend to let Steve Finley attempt to recruit Johnson to Anaheim. Dec. 11 - 1:35 pm et

So, is his contract void then?

What does this mean exactly?

It means they can void his contract if they want to do so. It is up to the signing team.

He's positive he wants the hell out of there.

The Yankees are about to sign Pavano, will probably get Johnson, and are unable to move Brown. I smell a rat if this is true.

The rat's name is George.

Well if they lose out on Wright since he supposedly failed his physical, then I could very well see the Yanks signing Pavano and picking up Johnson. However, if they sign Wright (meaning it goes through) then I think the Yanks are pretty much done pitching wise and will turn their attention to Beltran.

Wow, that would be f***ing ridiculous.

It smells like the DBacks are trying to get someone to be desparate. To me is seems like the Yankees and DBacks are playing a big game of chicken. I wonder who will blink?

I googled it, and checked the Yankees message board, and I don't see anything about Wright failing a physical.

Another option for the Cardinals might be to acquire Yankees right-hander Javier Vazquez in a three-way Randy Johnson trade in which the Yankees would get Johnson and the Diamondbacks would land Haren and/or Rick Ankiel.

However, the Cardinals might deem that price too high for a pitcher with as many questions as Vazquez and probably would require the Yankees to include significant cash in the deal.

Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta said he has spoken with representatives for free agent Mike Matheny.

The Dodgers aren't going to enter next season with Dave Ross as a starter. DePodesta said he's not pursuing Jason Varitek, but he has engaged in trade discussions involving other catchers. Mike Lieberthal could be one possibility. Dec. 11 - 1:42 pm et

I would be interested in Matheny, great D catcher.

The Cubs might have to part with both Kyle Farnsworth and Todd Wellemeyer in order to acquire Dan Kolb.

Sergio Mitre and Dave Kelton are another candidates to be involved in a Kolb trade

God, that would be a horrible trade for the Scrubs. DO IT JIM!!! :fthecubs

The Rangers are showing interest in Jose Valentin as a designated hitter and reserve infielder.

The Twins have talked to him about the same role. If the Red Sox are going to sign Edgar Renteria, Valentin may not get a shortstop job anywhere. So what if he's a better player than more than half of the regulars out there. Dec. 11 - 2:13 pm et

Rotoworld needs to put down the bong.
