December 14, 200421 yr That Reds deal may have dotted the i's and put the Halo around Clements head. This is day two of my advocating the overpaying of Matt Clement stance. It needs to happen. I'm with you on overpaying for clement if neccessary. However I don't really feel that them getting rid of Ortiz has changed anything with their pursuit of Matt.
December 14, 200421 yr That Reds deal may have dotted the i's and put the Halo around Clements head. This is day two of my advocating the overpaying of Matt Clement stance. It needs to happen. Why is everyone so convinced Clement will be going to the Angels now? They still have Washburn to deal with as their 5th starter, and Byrd's contract is basically the same amount of money as was the salary of Ortiz.
December 14, 200421 yr look at the bears with this dominant defence, grossman and they'll sign a reciever next year the bears will be in the playoffs. I have no doubt about it

December 14, 200421 yr Jason, clear out you're PM box, I can't reply to you.... Jesus Jason, if you aren't going to reply to PMs the least you could do is delete some
December 15, 200421 yr Jesus Jason, if you aren't going to reply to PMs the least you could do is delete some He was replying.. I'm sure he just lets the "sent" ones build up.
December 15, 200421 yr I was busy on the PM"s today. I get in period where I reply right away, periods where I read the pm but am busy with other stuff and don't have the time to write an immediate reply, and then those periods where I put off the reply and forget, lol.
December 15, 200421 yr Does the Byrd signing for 5 mil take them out of the Clement signing? I highly doubt it.

It needs to happen. i guess i would overpay too for clement, but not ridiculously. i just don't like odalis perez, had an injury last year, and choked in the playoffs.
December 15, 200421 yr The angels board said they might have now dropped out of the Clement running. I would doubt it though, they have plenty of money to spend and I'm going to highly doubt their off-season on getting Paul Byrd. Edit: I gues Anaheim does already have 5 starters, no top of the line ace, but 5 decent starters. Washburn is on the trading block so they could deal him to make room for Clement or have an expensive bullpen arm.
December 15, 200421 yr The angels board said they might have now dropped out of the Clement running. Fine w/ me....
December 15, 200421 yr god the angels are going to be so good next year Welcome aboard. It sure looks that way too. I still think they are in the Clement running though, but maybe not. Maybe they are going to have a much quieter offseason then anyone expected. I still think they would like to add one of the big name shortstops, but the price tags are out of whack for them.
December 15, 200421 yr After this i have no doubt in my mind that clement will be an angel. Wow.. knowin A.J's history, he won't sign with the Angels. Book it.
December 15, 200421 yr I would like perez, i feel like another lefty in the rotation wouldn't hurt us any. Also two out of the last three years he has had damn good road splits. Another lefty would be good. The question remains-which one will we get?
December 15, 200421 yr Another lefty would be good. The question remains-which one will we get? Not milton.
December 15, 200421 yr i heard offman from the score said clement is at top of kw's list but offman doesn't think clement is a winner
December 15, 200421 yr i heard offman from the score said clement is at top of kw's list but offman doesn't think clement is a winner Unit was a top his list before as well, doesn't mean anything. Not trying to bash you heat, just saying.
December 15, 200421 yr While everyone is concentrating on Clement, Kenny should do an end run and lock up Perez But I doubt it - he'll probably try to engineer a trade so he doesn't have to add payroll; like dump Konerko and that Dodger minor leaguer can take his place

December 15, 200421 yr I sort of have a feeling -- just a feeling, I might be way off on this -- but I really think that Clement might take one or two million less just to stay in Chicago. He knows how it is here. He knows how passionate fans of both teams are, maybe his wife is telling him that they really love the city, and that he should really take a good look at the Sox and see if the two sides can come together. Just a thought.
