Watching the game. Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura were my two favorite players of all time. It was wild.

Too young to remember, I wish I would've seen it.

Ahhh, goodtimes, goodtimes.

It was 1992. I remember that. Hawk was Like :o

Ok thanks for the Correction. Same Year Ryan Retired after Dann Howitt then of the Mariners hit a Granny off him. Fastball going 95 MPH at 46 Yrs of Age

Watching the game with my dad. Man, we both were like, . Oh Robin Ventura, I loved him. He was for sure the first non-my age crush. Man, that was right around the time I was getting into the Sox hardcore...Oh the memories.

I was at Future Stars Basketball Camp at Lake Forest College and saw the picture in the paper the next day. We did not have TVs, so didn't see it.

What were the suspensions for that? Anyone remember that?

I was at Nolan Ryan's Waterfront Inn up on Choke Canyon and he happened to be there. The place was mostly empty and I asked him about it. It took 10 minutes for Robin to even get to the plate, ten more to describe the at bat, and 10 minutes to discuss the trip from home plate to the mound. All the while the four of five of us were ROTFLMAO. By the time he administered the head lock I was on one knee, almost peeing my pants.

I've also read Robin's account of how he got half way out there and realized it was an old man and didn't know what to do. Merging both stories, caused me to almost split my insides.

I was probably a little kid chewin on somethin when this happened. :)

saw it on espn a while back

I was in a skybox watching that! That was before I owned by business, and the one I had worked for got the use of it from their lawyer buddies. I remember that the seats were cramped, and I wasn't too impressed, except the view was pretty good. And then when Robin went to the mound, I almost fell out of the box not believing what I was seeing. One one hand, I just knew Robin was gonna get whupped. But on the other, I always thought Ryan was kind of a jackass, and was hoping the youngster would put a dent in his mystique. Alas, that was not to be.

I was pissed off when it happened. The White Sox got no respect and Robin acting like an ass made it worse. ESPN had a field day on it, it made me embarassed to be a Robin fan and a Sox fan that day. :banghead

What I remember most about this was BlackJack talking a bunch of crap while hiding behind Frank Thomas. If he had any guts he wouldn't need to hide behind Frank.

Well Black Jack was 6'5" But let's say he wasn't really Buff So.....

He's a pussy.

I got the whole thang on video tape. It didn't embarass me cause even the nicest player can lose it sometime. Even though Robin got whupped it's kinda funny now after all this time. :fight

After what Mark Whiten did to Black Jack, I don't think I could blame him. :P

Robin mentioned he got half way to the mound before realizing Ryan was as old as his father and wasn't certain what to do next. Whip an old man, stop, whatever. UI think it's just one of the funniest moments in baseball fights.

That is definitely not one of Robin's best moments.
