Delgado is a Marlin

Featured Replies

4 years /52 mil, book it.

That's where he wanted to go. That's where he ended up.

Good for him. Now, what do the Marlins do with salary?

I'm going to be really pissed if they turn around and trade Castillo. I really think he would have been better for this team then Iguchi. Ohh well...

Ya, saw that, not surprising.

Good for the Marlins. I'm curious to see how they fit him in salary wise or if they are fine as is. My guess is they'll need to move someone.

I'd rather have Iguchi and Marte over Castillo..........

Or Iguchi and whomever else some of these people think they can force the Marlins to take.

Is Castillo really worth a 2-3 year, 10.5-16 million comittment?

Who would you give us in return?  I would rather keep him than trade him, but I am curious about what kind of players we could get in return.

You'd get an amazing player in Luis... he's tough, plays hard, works the count, gets on base is a great baserunner, and hits for average.

White Sox fan here...

The most common trade discussed our board is Damaso Marte and Willie Harris for Luis Castillo but knowing our GM he would throw a prospect or two in with them.

By the way the Marlins are my second favorite team (I was born in Fort Lauderdale but spent a majority of my childhood in the South Suburbs of Chicago). You have a very nice message board here and I look forward to maybe posting a little more often know that I know they have a site like this.

Wow, Marte and Harris. Your generosity is overwhelming. :thumbdown

Crazy contract.

2005 - 4M

2006 - 13.5M

2007 - 14.5M

2008 - 16M

2009 - 16M (vesting option) 16M for a 38 year old Delgado doesnt' seem like a good buy.

and he will be in the NL so he won't be DH'ing if he gets real bad at fielding or suffers an injury. And still 16 mill for a DH would be outrageous...Marlins=Morons with this contract. :headshake

well i think they made it cheap at first so by time i goes up in price Lowell be gone.

Wonder if those Sosa for Floyd rumors spark up again?

The Marlins are my favorite team in the National League so I wish Delgado and the rest of the team luck in their division since it seems like the Braves always get away with it.

Couldn't have said it any better. $5 million for Iguchi and Marte or $5 million for Castillo. I know I gotta go with the former.

That's cool I guess. Closer to home for him.

WHo is their rotation? Beckett-Burnett-Lieter-Willis and who? I think they dumped Oliver midseason. Is it still Ismael Valdes? He;ll probably pitch decent at home but I guess we know where Larry Beinfest will be looking in JUly. BTW

Valdez was brought back.

Hurray for the small market teams. f*** the Mets. They signed enough free agents this winter, anyway. Let them have Sam-Me.
