February 4, 200521 yr Casino Royale. No word on who will play Bond, either. I really don't like any of the names talked about so far, except maybe Bana but i just can't see him as Bond. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...movies_eo/15848
February 4, 200521 yr QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) I hope Hugh Jackman becomes Bond. If he did, I might actually want to see it.
February 4, 200521 yr Casino Royale? The original is already better. Woody Allen as the villain. Sheer genius.
February 4, 200521 yr I'm not too interested in James Bond movies. The older ones were ok but the more recent ones I haven't even seen.

February 5, 200521 yr QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) Jude Law might not be a bad choice. I'm thinking him or Clive Owen are the most likely, I just can't see an Aussie in Bana or Jackman as James Bond.
February 5, 200521 yr QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) I hope Hugh Jackman becomes Bond. Same here. I think he is a really great actor. Plus: My fiancee would actually go with me to a Bond movie if he was in it!
February 5, 200521 yr that is a change, i remembered that Gerard Butler the phantom movie was in the short running. but the Clive Owens in the short running as well. the idea of Dougray Scott is not a bad choice

February 5, 200521 yr QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 06:49 AM) Word is Tarantino wants to direct it. oh boy, tatantino??? i mean i like some of his stuff, but i really don't know if he has the chops to direct a bond movie.

February 5, 200521 yr Word is Tarantino wants to direct it. As Soxtalk's resident James Bond expert (self-appointed, sure), let me clear up some details for everyone. Tarantino's involvement happened late last year, it was an Idea between him and Pierce Bronson to go back to the grittier Bond films like From Russia with Love, etc. Quentin is a big fan of that era. They both approached EON productions (Barbara Broccoli, specifically) about it doing the first Bond novel "Casino Royale". EON had recently re-claimed the title after several years of legal wrangling. Thats why it had never been produced before. They were turned down, flat. EON claimed the success of Die Another Day said the movie-going public wanted Spectacle over realism. Then the overwhelming success of "The Bourne Supremecy" and the DVD success of the re-issue of"The Bourne Idendity" changed their minds again. The public will love realism. But those movies made them believe the public would want a YOUNGER Bond. Bye Bye Pierce. So, now they have gone back to "Casino Royale" and they are looking for a younger Bond. They do have to beef of the book, a tad. The plot is rather simple, about Bond trying to backrupt a terrorist organisation in the Casinos of France. Plus the hunt is on for a younger Bond. Mid 30s Top Choices are Dougray Scott and Gerard Butler or perhaps an unknown. They believe Bond is the star and a name actor might not be necessary. Jude Law was considered too pretty, too thin and not rugged enough for the type of Bond they want. Hugh Jackman might be too expensive Clive Owen, a fan favorite since the movie "Croupier" might be unattainable due to his serious acting career taking off. Plus he is in his early 40s. Believe it or not, he might be too old. Though a solid choice. Eric Bana, who was a stand-up comic in Australia (who would have thought after The Hulk), has no interest in playing Bond and has said so. The film has already been delayed a year due to these set backs. This has prevented the producers from getting the film out in 2005, so another could come out in 2007...007 in 2007. A marketing dream they regrettably crushed. I hope this clears up some things...If you guys have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
February 5, 200521 yr QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Word is Tarantino wants to direct it. He must have way too much going on right now to be directing another movie. Right now he's going to be starring and producing in a movie called Hell Ride. He's also supposed to be directing another Kung Fu homage movie (Untitled Quentin Tarantino Project) and then after that's he supposed to be directing a World War 2 prison escape (Inglorious Bastards) flick starring Michael Madsen and maybe Adam Sandler. Then throw in the fact that he wants to do a Vega Bros movie and another Kill Bill movie in 15 years, I don't see James Bond in his future. EDIT: I guess it's official that Martin Campbell will be directing anyway.

It's Tarantino, he's famous for making washed up actors great. Throw any shlop in there and Tarantino would make him golden until he was exposed in another film. Just not Jude Law. He's a shlop no matter what. It's an interesting story nonetheless. I'm not a Bond fan, and my loyalty to Tarantino has dropped dramatically since Kill Bill, but I'd go to the theatre's to see Tarantino's Casino Royale.

February 6, 200521 yr damnit i want Pierce Bronson to come back and do 1 more. Hell bring back Sean Connery he has another bond movie in him
February 6, 200521 yr All I'll say is that after watching Jude Law in Closer, I don't want him to be the next Bond. Owen would probably be my choice, but as Ribbie said, he might be too old.

February 6, 200521 yr Author take it fwiw...saw in today's 'parade' in the paper that someone asked about owen as next bond. it said something to the effect as he is the top guy they want as bond but he has yet to be approached about playing him and if he is that he'll think about it...
February 6, 200521 yr I've always thought Hugh Grant could be a good Bond. Not sure why, I just always thought he could work really well.
February 25, 200521 yr It looks like it's down to Clive Owen or Julian McMahon as who will be Bond. I happen to like both of the choices, Owen before McMahon though. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8520

I happen to like both of the choices, Owen before McMahon though. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8520 Other breaking Bond news... The director Martin Campbell spoke with the NY Daily news about "Casino Royale" It seems that they are approaching this film like "Batman Begins" It will feature a 30-something James Bond, new to the 00 status, on one of his first assignments. But it will take place in 2006. I guess erasing the previous 20 films' mythology. 007 Director dicusses the plot of "Casino Royale" On a side note...There is speculation amongst Bond Fans that this might not be the whole feature, but a flashback for the pre-title sequence only... If it is the whole film...I'm not sure how to fell about this approach. Right now, I don't like it. Edited February 25, 200521 yr by RibbieRubarb
