TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tuesday's postgame officially marked the end of Major League Spring Training for Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney, two highly touted outfield prospects in the White Sox system. The pair was reassigned to minor league camp after the Sox's Cactus League game with Seattle.

See you in the bigs in a year or two. :cheers

Tough cuts for those 2. Anderson was really consistent and Sweeney was SCALDING the ball. No chance of either to make the team but I was impressed with their performances. Next to be sent down:

Kevin Walker

Joe Borchard

i agree that borchard will be sent down, dont think walker will.. i think he'll make the team

I lost a bunch of confidence in him today. Cotts pitched well....Walker blew. But....you can;t judge someone on 1 performance. If that's the case our only ML pitchers would be McCarthy, Buehrle, Shingo, and Walker. But we'll see. It's down to Cotts and Walker. Who wants it more?

holy s***, i didnt see the last 3 innings of the game... wow... 4 runs in 2/3 ip

ouch

that just really hurt walker

i think that he will be pitching a lot in this comming week

What exactly are you judging Walker on? His 8 or so IP so far in the Spring?

I'm judging him on everything I know about him. His outings this spring ahve been wonderful but he pitched poorly today. I know his ERA went up to 16.20 after todays outing. I know he has a career 4.45 ERA in the MLB. I knoe he has been with the Padre's and Giants and is now with the Sox. I also know he is in a competition with Neal Cott's to make this team. Thats's what I'm judging him on. :)

As much as noone wants to judge on one outting. I think Walker really hurt his own cause today. I am sure he will be pitching a lot this coming week just to prove maybe it was a bad outing or maybe his arm wasn't right today.

That's what I was trying to say. Thanks.

Walker has to be a stud from here on out to even have a shot at making the major league team in my opinion. If not he will be spending the entire year in the minors because i cannot see them brining him up mid way through the season because he will earn $525,000.

Agreed, but $525,000 would be chump change if Walker can finish up camp strong and do a good job for us during the regular season. Our division is full of lefty bats.

It seems like Sweeney and Anderson are always involved together. The come up together last spring training, they both get reassigned this spring training at the same time, do you think they'll make the big leagues at the same time? I would say Anderson first, but that's me.

It will definitely be Anderson as he was a college player. It's be pretty rare to see two top prospects come up at the same time. Pretty much the only way for that to occur is on an Opening Day roster or the September call-ups. Dye is here for two years, Rowand is here for a couple too. Since Pods is our leadoff guy (depending on how he does this year) it appears that there is no rush for the kids. An injury to Dye or ROw puts that into question though

At this point Anderson is much closer to the Big leagues than Sweeney. Sweeney should end up at AA this year at age 20, so he's one helluva prospect, but he's almost a full three years younger than Anderson.

Barring injuries or a horrible slump that lasts for 2 years Anderson will make it first.

And Soxfan1 said Sweeney is scalding the ball...he is hitting .174 (4 for 23) while Anderson is 6 for 20 (.300). Good to see Anderson do well, I'm slightly worried after the way he ended 2004, injuries or not.

I think Adkins and Borchard are the next cuts. I think we are 2 years away from seeing Anderson and Sweeney, but I think they will come up at the same time.

Rotoworld on Kevin Walker...

Kevin Walker gave up his first four runs of the spring today to take the loss against the Mariners.

Walker had pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings to give himself a shot at making the White Sox. This probably ruins his chances. Mar. 22 - 9:32 pm et

I haven't had the chance to see either Sweeney or Anderson play.

Can anyone give a comparison to them with current MLB'ers, so I can have a general idea in their games and what to possibly hope for in the future?

I'm almost positive Adkins will be the next one to go too.

Brian Anderson looks like a bad guy from die hard, does that help??

Scalding the ball doesn't mean you are hitting .875! Every single time/game I have seen him in, he has hit the ball hard. That's just bad-luck that it is right at somebody. Damn.

Tuscon, AZ - The Chicago White Sox reassigned top prospects Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney to minor league camp. The move wasn't a surprise as neither were competing for starting spots, rather, they were getting an opportunity to show the coaching staff what they are capable of doing...MORE
