It is? Other than the Royals and Mariners, those are some tough teams.

Well, if the "pitchers are ahead of the hitters" at the start of the season as we hear, we should have a good start

15 and 9 seems about right.

Here are my predictions, series by Series

 

3 vs CLE Sox 2-1

3 at KC Sox 2-1

3 at DET Sox 2-1

3 vs TOR Tor 2-1

3 vs KC Sox 2-1

3 vs MIN Sox 2-1

3 at SEA Sea 2-1

3 at LAA LAA 2-1

 

Sox 13-11. I know it doesn't sound very impressive, but my rationale is this: 1) They take the first three series (good start) but we visit TOR where we've had trouble and face a pretty good team. After taking three series, it's difficult to take a fourth straight. We get back on a roll with KC and MIN, but then go to the dreaded West where we fall back into a bit of a slump.

 

Predictions are a bit tricky this early out. I'll be waiting to see how a couple of the ST "experiments" work out. For instance, Anderson in CF, Uribe at #2, etc.

16-17. I'd imagine we'll throw a sweep in there somewhere. The only series that I'd be worried about is LAA as they'd be out for revenge, but their team sure doesn't look all that great.

Sums up my thoughts well

I think that they could win 16-17 games.

I, for one, will never doubt this team again. I'm still embarrased that I acted the way I did during the September slide. I won't make that same mistake again.

It's hard to expect much more from a team than a .667 win%, so I voted 16-17.

I am hoping for 16-17 wins, but a 15-9 start would be a .625 clip and equate to 101 victories.

press conference when Bears fired him.

It made me wonder. Will Oz someday get fired?? Managers are hired

to be fired, but this guy brought us a World Series, something unheard of

in Chicago, moreso with the Yankees buying themselves pennants all

these years. Can you envision Oz EVER getting fired like Ditka did?

I think it'd be a tragid day for chicago sports.

The last World Series winning manager who was fired was Bob Brenley of the Diamondbacks, fired in 2004 after winning in 01. McKeon retired this year. Francona still has the BoSox, Scoscia still has the Angels, Torre still has the Yankees. Leyland led the Marlins in 97, but he resigned after management dismantled the team. Bobby Cox won in 95. Cito Gaston managed the Blue Jays in the pre-strike years, but was fired in 97 and has not managed since. Tom Kelley won in '91 and '87 with the Twinkie bastages, and retired after 2001. Sweet Lou resigned in '92 after winning in 1990 with the Reds. LaRussa resigned in '95 to take over the Redbirds after winning in '89. Lasorda led the Dodgers in '88 and retired in '96. Davey Johnson managed the Mets in '86, and was fired in 1990.

 

So out of the last 20 years, only 3 world series managers have been fired. The rest are either still managing or have retired/resigned, albiet not necessarily on their own terms (i.e. LaRussa). So the Odds certainly seem with the Oz being able to stay on as long as he wants, as long as management doesn't dismantle the team under him (i.e. Gaston in Toronto or Brenley in Arizona).

Im gonna wait and see some of spring training before predicting any of these games.... too many stories, injuries etc... can happen before then.
