Hampton wasn't a one year wonder. Brown was coming off a good season when traded to NY. Benson had a decent year last season. All their situations are different from Garland's, IMO.

 

All of them were making a lot more money and all of them were either bad or hurt. Hampton was brutal in Colorado and was 2 years removed from pitching well. Brown was consistently hurt, even in the year before he got traded. Chris Benson has been brutal since his arm surgery, and that's in the NL.

He can't be traded anyway. His no trade lasts the season.

We'd be competing with the Royals if the majority of soxtalk was running this team.

I don't think anyone has suggested giving up on him. Just take him out when he obviously has nothing and is getting rocked. You never know, you may need a cushion later.

 

Eh, I agreed with how Ozzie handled Garland in this game. You don't have to manage every game like it's the 7th game of the World Series. Ozzie has always given his SPs a lot of rope... his approach worked last season.

Here's the only thing I will say about Garland....I would have liked to seen him get traded just cause he had a ton of value this last offseason.
