Baseball America Mock Draft

Featured Replies

Since it is a subscriber only article, I'd rather not post who Callis has all thirty teams drafting (go to minorleagueball.com if you really want to see all 30), but he has the Sox taking Chris Tillman, a high school pitcher (righty) out of California. He also says the Sox have some interest in Clemson OFer Tyler Colvin, along with other guys (no first name provided, so the first names might be wrong) Jordan Walden (who can hit 99 MPH) and Kasey Kiker.

Thoughts?

Where does he have Max Scherzer going? I realize the Sox are doubtful to take him considering he's a Boras client, but he's a stud. He was hurt but has been back in form and pitched 7 IP 1 R against Texas tonight.

Also, what happened to Shane Robinson? He's hitting .347 this year and was considered a top prospect after last year's college season. I haven't heard anything about him since.

Ian Kennedy...total stud, whose had a very down year. Has the Sox passing him, but no way would I pass up on him.

I would rather have him than Tillman. I would love to have Walden though.

Some don't like my thoughts on drafting and the minor leagues, but to bad for them.

My only real opinion (and it will probably be ripped) is not to draft a HS pitcher in the first round. I can live with a college pitcher with more experience who had time to grow and develop (physically and emotionally) but I think, in general, HS pitchers are a waste of 7 figure bonuses. If the choice is HS pitcher or getting some immediate bullpen help, I'd take the bullpen help.

If I were the Sox I'd go for the OF'er. There track record for drafting and developing pitching is anything but stellar.

Jason, I think Ian Kennedy is a Boras client so that might explain why Callis has the White Sox passing him up.

Two things:

- Drabek is Doug's son

- I laugh every time I see the name Evan Longoria

Drew Stubbs...... :headbang

Tyler Colvin

I just realized Matt LaPorta wasn't on that mock...

He was ineligible last year, as just a sophmore, but he would have been off the board before we got Broadway. Hard to believe he won't be a first rounder this year.

Played against Kyle last year when we were traveling in Texas. Kid can flat out bring it. Hes under 6 foot and can hit up to 99 on the gun. Supposed to be one of the best Wide Recievers in Texas too.

How come music keeps playing everytime I open a thread?????????

I've heard that there are major, major attitude problems with Drabek. I also read on minorleagueball.com (Sickels site -- pure speculation) that steroids is a word that was brought up with him (Drabek) and his teammates.

But, back to the main point -- anybody know anything about Tillman or Colvin?

I like how you busted them out in public :cheers

LOL, I got banned for keeping it real.

Isn't there anything you guys can do about it to set them straight?

I mean, if you made a thread about it and got banned, it doesn't look like they care that they steal posts word for word from here, but I gotta think there's something you can do.

If they have to steal from us, they are ..... pay attention cwsox and whoever ... TOO f***ING STUPID to come up with an intelligent thread on their own. They aren't worth worrying about.
