June 22, 200619 yr No, but I'll bet it's because we hit his son. Well, jerk, don't hit any of our guys. If you do, we're coming after your family. We're like the mob.
June 22, 200619 yr I only heard portions of it but it involves something Ozzie said on the field yesterday, Duncan thinks Ozzie said something along the lines of "I called over to the Cardinals during the game to apologize for his son being hit." Ozzie didn't actually say this though, or atleast that's what I was told, he just said that he was sorry for Duncan's son being hit but never actually said he called the Cards dugout. Duncan was upset that Ozzie "lied" and said that he doesn't like liars.
June 22, 200619 yr QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) Who cares what Ozzie said? This is really getting out of hand. Oh, it's more crap about his Mariotti comments? Pfft, Zzzzz.
June 22, 200619 yr His son got hit in the ass. He should be pissed off at Ponson. Maybe he didn't try to hit any White Sox batter, but even LaRussa said it looked bad, and Ponson even said he didn't blame the Sox for being pissed.
June 22, 200619 yr He should be irate at the fact that his 2nd and 3rd starters gave up 33 runs (well, they gave up most of them) in the last two games. Edited June 22, 200619 yr by jphat007
June 22, 200619 yr Duncan was not upset about Ozzie's "***" comment or even that his son was hit by a pitch, he understands that. He's just upset that Ozzie "lied" about calling the Cards during the game to apologize, though he seems what Ozzie said has been misconstrued. It's a "Jump to Conclusions mat". You see, you have this mat, with different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO. Perhaps we can avoid jumping to conclusions before hearing any part of the story?

June 22, 200619 yr Here's what happened. Ozzie told reporters that after he found out they hit Duncan he called Duncan (pitching coach) and apologized. Duncan then called the Score (Mulligan) and called Ozzie a liar fr not calling him, but talking to him on the field. The Score had the cut of Ozzie talking, and a caller pointed out that Ozzie was really saying "told" not "called" and last I heard, Murph agreed with the caller and it was fairly obvious to me that Ozzie said "told." Duncan was PISSED off about everything that happened and also said that Ponson never threw at anyone intentionally, but Ozzie was a liar and told his pitchers to hit guys.
June 22, 200619 yr Maybe he should STFU and get our pitchers learning how to pitch again.. STFU Duncan.. you useless bum

Duncan was apparently "upset" about Ozzie saying he "called" Duncan about the incident, as was reported by Tribune writer Dave Van Dyke. The Score replayed the interview as it was recorded also, and found that Ozz actually didnt say "called". Van Dyke mis-reported. Score made sure to let everyone know that the Trib again misreported something involving the WHITE SOX
June 22, 200619 yr Maybe he's mad because we scored 33 runs on his team in two games and not in a game of madden 06'. Im talkin two baseball games.

Score made sure to let everyone know that the Trib again misreported something involving the WHITE SOX To be fair, Ozzie ever easy to understand, and Duncan was going to be pissed no matter what. The difference between phone call and face-to-face talk is inconsequential in this story, IMO, and Van Dyke wasn't doing anything intentionally. Meanwhile, isn't talking to someone in person better than a phone call? To me, Duncan is either a liar or a complete idiot if he thinks Ponson didn't hit those guys intentionally. But I guess we have enough discussion on that around here.

Here I was thinking Ponson sucked ass (hence the reason he was moved to the pen) and wouldnt hit anybody with the bases loaded.. if he did hit em intentionally he sucks even worse ass than I thought.. June 22, 200619 yr So basically it comes down to 'told' vs. 'called'? Wow, if he's trying to deflect the attention off the fact that his pitchers are getting lit up, he's gonna have to do a better job than that. Someone change this guy's diaper, put a boob in his mouth and put him to sleep.

Ponson just got pissy that he was sucking so much and there wasn't a judge to punch close to him, so he decided to start hitting guys.

He does suck that bad - which is why he's sitting at the Ritz with his bags packed as I type this.
